SoCal beaches, August
Hi,
I've been to Southern California a couple of times but both visits have been in the early part of the summer (June) and both have had pretty dubious weather - you know, the kind of thing we pretend passes for summer here in the UK :p So, would we have proper beach weather in mid-August, or is it still a bit of a crapshoot? Many thanks ST |
In the morning it can still be hazy and overcast usually burns off by mid-day.

The BEST beach days in So. Cal are from mid August thru the end of September.
Enjoy! HP |

It is caused by desert air, 100 miles to the east, heating up and rising, and pulling in humid air from the warm Pacific Ocean over the cold California Current near the coast. The air condenses overnight as it comes inland causing a thick marine layer that may even drizzle or mist. As the Alaskan Current warms up in July, the marine layer starts to dissipate earlier in the day and eventually totally disappears come August. |
