D class availability

Yesterday I booked a trip to Sydney in Club, flying back to LHR at January 19th with Qantas. Today I realized that within 3 weeks I'll receive my Gold upgrade for two. I called ba reservations to change my flight to a BA flight (so I can use my upgrade). They told me that I booked D class and there is no British Airways D class availability between January 15th and January 20th. When I check airtravel.tk there's enough D class availability on BA flights (e.g. BA 10 or 16).
Any ideas what to do (exept paying 1500 euro PP for a upgrade to a flexible Club ticket!)? Who's telling the truth?

Try ringing BA in the UK or US to see whether they can see D class availability. It has been noted here that there is often different availability depending upon territory.

I am assuming that you are trying in the Netherlands.

Before you change the booking, however, check to see whether there is any Z class availability on the flights you want. My guess is that you'll be very lucky to find it at that time of year.

According to KVStool there is plenty of D-class availability (using Amadeus or WSpan). There will be few exceptions, e.g. on the 19th itself BA16 shows D0. Pricing the entire trip via BA10 return (leaving somewhere mid-December) comes up with a 3800 euro fare and books in D-class (with POS=AMS). So I'd try to call again and ask the same....

BTW: I assumed you are travelling AMS-LHR-SYD.

And even if there is no D class availability now, ask them to put you on the waiting list.

Good luck on using that GUF2 voucher ! You might need to call the pope in Rome for some help though ...

About GUF2: one of the callcentre agents in Bremen told me that I could use the voucher on any BA flight, if there 's avaliability. Didn't matter what class. I might call them again
