YYC to GLA. Via Dublin or LHR?
Looking at options for Calgary to Glasgow in June.
I'm looking at YYC - ORD - DUB - GLA with the TATL on AA or YYC - ORD - LHR - GLA with BA. I'll be in W. The AA option via Dublin is around £400 cheaper and I can avoid LHR (going out to YVR vis LGW).
The AA flight is on a 787 and I cannot see any disadvantage apart from getting into GLA 90 minutes later.
WWYD?
Thanks

I suppose the only thing in Heathrow’s favour is there are more daily flights, which could help in the event of IRROPS. Assuming the TATL is overnight either way even misconnecting you should have options later the same day.
You also don’t say the length of the connection. If either was very short or very long that could be a factor?
Bit as others have said I would likely be looking to save £500.

Thanks all. Decided to go for the DUB option. I would go WestJet but I need the tier points - although I think etiene is correct about the EI flight. I may have to check a bag but as I use CWS's invisible SkyPak bag I might get away with it.

I miss YYCLHR. And can’t see it coming back, frankly, with WS closer to Skyteam than oneworld.
I’m moving back to the Middle East this summer and imagine my decade of BA Gold will be in the past - hello AF/KLM.

Between WS and AC to LHR, KL to AMS, and 4Y to FRA for the leisure market, YYC is well served with nonstop connections to Europe. I can't see space for BA anymore.

I’d actually disagree YYC is well-served… there’s no Star Alliance flights to a European Star Alliance hub.
That said, I suspect you’re right. 103/102 always had a decent number of Brits onboard, but it did seem to be more a holiday and VFR crowd in summer and winter (skiing).
Interesting how AF/KLM faces similar market dynamics and likely higher wage costs, but they serve so much more of Canada than BA (YYC, YEG, YOW, YQB). WS helps a bit there, but frankly not much in eastern Canada at all.
