advice as to what could go wrong mixing carriers

Other than delays causing me to miss flights and issues re booking wondering if I have considered the risks.

Intention is to fly TLV to BUD for business on a non BA carrier. Then fly BUD LHR YVR and return and then a non BA carrier to TLV. Why? Because the business class pricing is approximately 50% what I may pay if I flew TLV YVR and return (business side trip a convenient excuse to try this). Around $2000 Canadian after reducing price by some avios flown + cost of the side trip return versus 4300 Canadian after reducing price by same avios. Am I asking for trouble or adventure?

How many days before your BUD-LHR-YVR trip do you plan to arrive at BUD?

In Budapest 3 to 4 days before departure to YVR. I assume that reduces my risk significantly.

Youre negating the vast majority of the separate ticket risk by having 3-4 days in BUD.
