I'm doing my first ever B2B's today (23rd October) and tomorrow (24th October) to get over the hurdle for Gold. I can't add my stuff to the wiki yet, hence the post, sorry!
I'm a bit nervous about doing them, so I was hoping that if any FT'ers doing it today or tomorrow wouldn't mind saying hello, please let me know! I'll likely be trying out the Qantas or the Cathay Silver lounges, given the rare opportunity I'm flying out of T3 over T5 as usual.

Wiki updated. Have no fear, you will be absolutely fine at SOF, just get off the plane and bear left to get back on!

Get on the plane, go around the corridor and get back on the plane. Rinse and repeat for Day 2, provided the flight isn't late and I get rebooked (and then it's the rebooking, duty of care, ORC requests to BAEC, and all that fun stuff).
  2. I tried searching the forum, but is the duty-free or gift shop mixed-departure/arrival side easily accessible so I can grab some stuff before coming home?

Thanks, and hope to see some folks tomorrow!
1. Yes you can literally get off the plane, turn left and join the holding pen to get back on it. You may even have time to go downstairs to the lounge
2. There are some shops there, you'll see them! I've definitely picked up magnets and local treats to take home without any issue.

Added my dates!

Thurs 9th LHR-SOF BA890 - ms101
Tues 14th SOF-LHR BA891 - ms101

Not doing a B2B strictly speaking, but taking advantage of 5 nights double TP offer. My parents needed the TP to maintain OWS and I'm enjoying my soft landing to OWS this year... Who knows what we'll be doing in Sofia for 5 days!

I'm looking at my TP runs for 2024 - anyone managed to book same day B2B on Sofia or must it be two bookings? I did two separate ones last year as needed the TP but don't think I need two for 2024!

Have not been able to see B2B but have nested in the past - 2 sets of bookings. I recommend checking in online for the return before the outbound. Maybe there should be a 🎄FT run 😂

Found an equivalent of Uber for the local Bulgarian taxis. Very useful to book taxis and pay by card. App is called TaxiMe and is pretty easy to use. Less than 10 to get from the Airport to our hotel in central Sofia. Thought would share in case anyone is staying over.

took a few tries to get it to select the area outside the airport for pickup but eventually worked and pickup was pretty smooth.

Obviously it depends on where you are staying but the metro is quick and cost about 70p to get from the airport to the station closest to the Intercontinental. You can use contactless card, no need to visit the ticket machine.

Just a note to avert any possible confusion. I arrived last week at gate B7 (I think) and I had to turn right in the terminal and then bizarrely go through some unmanned passport check gates before doubling back to the B7 gate entrance (a BP check then a holding area). What you do once you get into the terminal will depend on which gate you arrive at. There were shops/cafes on the right after the passport gates and toilets to the left and right as you got into the terminal (not so well signposted though).

I'm back there tomorrow and next week (added to the wiki), so I'll double check the gates and take some pics if anyone needs them. It's by no means rocket science though

Interesting! I've had B7 show up on the BA app but arrived / departed from C1. I've never had to use another gate at SOF. It would be good to know how often the gate is changed and what the process is so we can add extra info to the master B2B wiki.

Heading out to SOF next weekend to see the place and continue the mission to do all the European capitals, but also as it's a handy and affordable way to get 160tps, which I will need this year. Strangely, there appears to be 12 rows of club each way to this little heard of city, on cold looking weekend in November, and even more mysteriously, it would seem quite a few of these Sofia fans are also solo travellers, so my partner and I could only sit together in row 7 on the flight home. I'm worried that these Sofia enthusiasts might be a thirsty bunch - so for those who have been recently, is there any chance of getting a choice of meal and drinks sat in row 7 of 12, or shall I just accept that the champagne, ice and lemon will have run out, and that we’ll be having the vegetarian option accompanied by warm white wine/cold red wine and take the better leg room in row 11/12?

The most popular meal will have run out, but you may still have a choice. In row 12 you will be asked "Would you like x?" x being the remaining option. A bit disheartening for a newb CE traveller who has been perusing the menu...
You should still get bubbles though.

Just booked a same day B2B on Tuesday, 28th Nov 2023.

CE cabin looks quite busy on the way back. Not sure how I can add my name on the top thread.

I will travel with one crutch for this B2B (had trimalleolar fracture with joint dislocation in Madrid 8 weeks ago but Im on the mend and fit 2 fly again after last flight back from MAD with an open temporary cast).

You need to have made a minimum number of posts before you can edit Wikis (I seem to remember that it's 90, so you would be one short!).

If you post your flights in the same format as ones in the Wiki already, I will add them. But if the post threshold IS 90, you'll be able to do it yourself
