July changes [increase to schedules]

3 A380 routes planned for July (LAX/SFO/MIA) and then six for August.
Planned flights per week rising from 129 in April to 570 in late May.

Lets get back to it!

Quite a jump, hopefully they continue to go up. Just out of interest does anyone know the pre pandemic levels for May? How does 570 compare?

Interesting; that would imply some confidence within BA that the US / UK is opening up in mid to late June. I would have thought given the pent up demand they could run 380s into Orlando as well for the summer holidays - especially if the rest of Europe is in the grip of the 3rd wave - and with Norwegian gone there will be extra demand

Last summer for a short time they could’ve run A380s to FAO and AGP 😂

Anyone got a reliable (?!!**) crystal ball prediction or feeling about when UK/US travel will open up (albeit I assume with PCR tests/Vaccination certificates I would imagine). Biden talking about trying to have a "normal" 4th July.

Well we're hoping it's all good by the 7th :-)

I'm booked to Costa Rica via MIA on 10th August - no better than 50:50 chance of that happening I suspect even though my wife and I will both have had second vaccine jabs by then. Costa Rica is open so no issue there so may need to re-route via Madrid but got great Avios flights via MIA so that will be a shame!

good news/bad news for me. Good. Nice to see the A380 potentially making a comeback. Bad. My next trip to the UK is out of SAN, which I still suspect will get cancelled, but no qualms about driving up to LAX and an A380 would soften the blow a little, but alas, my trip is booked for June.

Double bad news is that it was booked on a 001 stock ticket, so no option to defer the dates until it does operate.

From memory BA used to operate between 650 and 720 flights a day. This is across the entire mainline network, so excluding franchises (Comair, Sunair) and BACF.

There is no indication of any kind that the US has any intention of expanding its exemption list for admission anytime soon.

Agreed that should an air corridor be opened with the UK, that it will be for those who are at least 2 weeks post their second dose (for 2-dose schemes) and who test negative.

Much will also depend on the Continent as it is likely that changes in the exemption list will not be UK-specific.

I am due my micro toilet brush (because, come on, they do look a little bit like one) nasal scrape on Monday for US travel on Tuesday... Will be nice to have the BA option again for some of the routes if they start to open up.

Not that I mind AA, but having the choice would be nice.

Does MCO have gates that can even take a 380?
