Here's an idea to keep slots busy for the Winter season: LCY-LHR
This just cropped up in a conversation. If BA could do LCY-LHR with a good enough frequency I'd probably go for it.
A 15 minute flight from East London to LHR instead of a 90/120 minute schlep.
It would also allow for slots to be kept busy ☺️

Never going to happen. The slot waiver is likely to be extended to this winter but even if it wasn’t, this route would be way down the list.
It would have to be flown by the E170/190 as that’s the only aircraft BA have that can serve LCY.
LCY also has a lot of duplicate routes to LHR (EDI/GLA/AMS) so there wont be any connecting traffic who arrive at LCY and want to transfer onto long haul. A better alternative would be LHR-LGW, but even that had near zero chance of starting. There are barley any routes left at LGW and there just isn’t the demand right now.
If BA had to slot sit, they would up frequencies to existing destinations (we’d see a 15:15 and 15:30 to EDI for example). I’d imagine some new Euro routes would start at 3/4 daily to block some slots too.

Will there be lie-flat seats?
Can't you just transit through AMS or DUB or something? Book LCY-AMS-LHR and then spend the night in a hotel on BA's expense and claim your €250 when you misconnect in AMS. Don't forget to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival to LHR.

« Air traffic control has just informed us that we will need to enter a holding pattern around London for the next 30 minutes »
“Due to fog, our flight is being rerouted to London Heathrow airport as it is impossible to land at City airport under the current conditions. Stop shouting, yes I know that’s where we’ve been coming from ».
