Either. Both are equally legitimate. Can also be SCOON (rhymes with soon)

I will pronounce it ay-vee-oss til the day I die, and there's nothing BA's brand boffins can do about it!

Earning something from Avio adds another perspective to frequent flying.

This is one of those barmy threads you only get on the BA board. I guess the same debate would rage for Avis. I’d use “An Avios Point” for the singular. Not quite sure I’ve ever had reason to though.

One of my friends thought they were “AvioN” points, between us it’s somehow stuck. iOS autocorrect often makes them “avoids”.

Is it AY-VEE-OSS
or AY-VEE-OHS
or AVVY-OSS
or AVVY-OHS
Neither of these. As noted above, correct one is with "æ" in the beginning.

According to who?

I just asked the wife to say Avios.... she pronounced the O much longer than I do. She also said ''what's that, an airline''?

Thanks everyone. I anticipated some debate on the matter, but surprised how many other variations there are. I'm happy to go by what BA call it on their flight announcements then.

So a- (as in "and") vee-oss, rhyming with adios seems to be about as general agreement as I'd expect!

I did also think about the plural/singular issue. I'd like to hope I'm never having to worry about this, but it's interesting all the same.

Some interesting points around trying to find something that is acceptable internationally without causing offence etc.

What about Do&Co? Is it dough-and-co?

‘Livery’ is a word I only ever read. I never say it. So, I’m happy saying it in my head as LYE-very.
