Rather poorly judged advert getting BA into hot water
https://www.theguardian.com/business...ino-winners-ad British Airways has been accused of glamorising gambling after it ran a television commercial featuring a couple easily winning money on slot machines, triggering complaints to the advertising regulator and anger from MPs and campaigners. |

This is just stupid. So are airlines not supposed to make advertisements about Las Vegas? Of course, you may consider that the gambling industry set standards are stupid, but within the context of limits to gambling advertising in the UK, I think that the only think which is rather naive here is BA not realising that their developing an ad on Vegas casinos that no Vegas casino would be able to promote would likely lead to complaints against them. |

The advertisement was apparently cleared for broadcast: ”A British Airways Holidays spokesperson said: “This advert is one of a series which has been broadcast by us over the last three years, promoting a range of special memories that millions of British Airways Holidays’ customers experience when they travel with us every year. “The advert was cleared with the industry body, Clearcast, ensuring it is appropriate for broadcast.” |

This result seem perfectly reasonable to me but I get that you will never convince the cheerleaders for BA on this forum.
The once a year passengers experience the rubbish BA throw at you once they have your cash. They don't get the service that those who reside in the CCR get or who spend more than half their life in the pointy end of aircraft, generally paid for by someone else. If you have used Easy Jet or Norwegian or KLM and then use BA you get to know pretty quickly just how far this airline has declined. |

It is not generating the belief as you stated, only recording one couple’s experience, which I can only take at face value to be true. I would have more issue if it was a made up story. |

With respect, why did BA not publish a more realistic advert of people losing money, which is the experience of the vast majority of those who go to Las Vegas? You may not believe this Kanderson but those shiny airconditioned casinos were not built by charities.
Gamblers with issues know that as well as anybody else... but they can't stop. They don't gamble because they believe some BA advert that shows people winning. |

Does anybody seriously think that they'll win more than they'll lose on slots / roulette etc.?

I was chatting to my brother who's lived on Guernsey for over 25 years and mentioned Aurigny Air Services rise to stardom. Once he'd stopped laughing, he said the loss making airline is seen as a bit of a joke amongst the islanders.

Could be curtains for BA after 29th March - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...al-Brexit.html
