Troubled BA is world’s 55th favourite airline

So more bad press and yet I had one of my best flights on BA only yesterday.............. |
Can you add a summary for the readers as per the FT rules |
I got 25 minutes into the channel 5 documentary and had to turn it off, Alex Cruz going on about how magnificent everything is, how BoB was a out choice not cost cutting was just too much.
I still have decent flights with BA on LH but its dependent on aircraft and crew, Qatar and AA are consistently better on my experience in business in the last year and for SH, unless I'm in CE (which can be great or dismal) there's no difference between BA and EZY, KLM, SAS etc. My experience is the BA product has got worse over the last 5 years and then there's IT and all the peripheral stuff. Yes, fares have got cheaper but they are still, in my experience not the cheapest. |
I flew LH J last week LAS-AMS on a new KLM 789. Both hard and soft products were surprisingly excellent and certainly blows BA's LAS services out of the water. KLM?
The demise of BA has been a wilful act of self destruction by BA management. |
In my honest opinion. It’s been a tough few years for BA (operationally), but they have made the experience better but it’s watered down by things like IT failures and strikes. Once they get that sorted out and the club suite and new cabins begin to become more available on the long haul routes as well as new planes coming in, you’ll then be surprised at what people begin to say. Half the hate for BA is media driven. The truth is when you take a BA flight today 95% of the time you’ll have at least a decent flight. |

i'd love to know whether they actually believe their lies, or whether they just think they need to spout guff for the cameras ? i made it to the end - probably shouldn't have bothered. |

https://www.cityam.com/cruz-control-...itish-airways/ To be fair, the linked coverage is a little more nuanced and it s a relatively fair article highlighting the need to compete against higher end carriers on LH and budget airlines on SH, and Cruz's need to balance the competing interests. I certainly wouldn't say that the article apportions blame, but highlights the chain of events which as it points out were in part necessary. |

Pilots’ strike points to deeper British Airways malaise A very good and objective article regarding BA pilots. Pretty much says that pilots are fed up with how BA is dealing with the whole situation of cuts the last few years. The comments below are even more intetesting... |

The quality of service customers want from the pilots is safe and punctual flight operations. The rest is someone else’s responsibility (i.e. cabin crew, catering contractors). I know the Captain is in overall charge, but this seems to me like that individual trying to jump on every bandwagon going to justify his claims.
