Wouldn't it have been cheaper to buy a nice lunch/dinner somewhere or I have I missed the point here?!

Not many in GLA on 1st Jan in a fit state to fly?

Apologies to nonstereotypical Scots!

Your suggestion is dishonest (you appear tointend to refund the fare after accessing the lounge without flying anywhere - otherwise refundable is irrelevant).

Why not that? Because that's an abuse of the lounge access terms (in spirit, if not in letter) and likely to cause BA to take measures against it that will disadvantage all of us.

that's what I would have suggested - rather than B2B, fly somewhere for lunch and back.

Possibly not. LPGS is over £120 a bottle retail, very easy for two people to get through one bottle in the CCR. Restaurant prices would be more of course, £190 in Claridges for example. Then add the cost of a meal in London for two...

A better option would be a one-way avios redemption for 4500 avios + £17.50, which the OP can throw away away after they've finished in the CCR.

Funny thing is the reverse is better. Fly into London grab lunch, and some sights, then hang out in the CCR for the evening flight. Not a bad way to spend a day. Better than doing the lawns ;-)
