any idea what the side dish/salad is ?

It's celeriac remoulade. A French canteen arch-classic! :) (either on its own or paired with a separate serving of grated carottes as a duo)

well, yes, think you’re right. I guessed at celeriac with bits of cheese, but just not entirely sure. It had texture but not much flavour.

I make something similar myself by slicing fennel with a mandoline, marinate it a bit with white balsamic vinegar and olive oil, and finish it at the table with parmesan shavings. I'm allergic to celery, so I'd love to see BA swap out all of the celery for fennel.

well, that makes sense for British Airways...a perfect complement for the (awful) British classic afternoon tea... ;)

Prawn and guac, not too bad.

I read that as "goo-ack". What a great moniker for "unidentifiable lake of beige sludge", eh ? :D

Herbed gribiche my foot... that's a poor excuse for a few uninspiring lettuce leaves. I'm still puzzled by those starters which range from pathetic to lovely. Originally, I thought that the "nicer" starters were supposed to differentiate band 2 from band 1 and band 4 from band 3, but from the start it has been far more unpredictable than that and really unequal.

Band 3 inbound

I haven’t flown BA for a couple of months so I made an amateur error assuming that the the third option would have been warm and not a salad. Anyhow, after having a nice á la carte meal at the AY Platinum wing lounge it was only good to have have a lighter option. Still, it was funny to observe that there were only three prawns, one cut in two halves. Once again, the crew was great.https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...8d3e806b4.jpeg

It does look as if the shine on Do&Co has gone. They were meant to be one of the best in their field and their initial food quality was high. Now it doesn’t seem much better than Gate Gourmet IMHO.

Yeah compare to the panini doesn't seem much better.....

The third option is always one of the cold salads which is otherwise used for bands Express/1/2 lunch and dinner. It's also puzzling that I have seen cases where only the salad was left at the end of the cabin and people complained and others where not enough were loaded and people complained. I have a feeling that how many people want the cold salad option on longer flights is a bit more volatile than other choices for whatever reason.

Not even Do&Co can roll BAs turd of a catering budget in glitter for long. They are still turning it out for other airlines like Turkish and Cathay.

Weird one: AMS-LGW

Hi,

Last Friday, I did AMS-LGW in CE and for the first time, choices were not available - (I did not really hear what the dish was exactly called) - but it was some cold fish flakes with potatoes and all tossed in some curry/masala like spice and it was on the spicy side too. [not really my dish as it was quite fishy in taste even with the spicest] - rest of the items on the tray was good.
I asked the FA about this later and she was saying that lately there has been some confusion with the catering at Do&Co - therefore the situation. (although interestingly they did have a couple of hot dishes for the cockpit crew - served actually quite late into this short flight - but they managed to get it done about 15 mins to landing when they again collected the tray) and I overheard the CSM telling the 2nd crew while seated again for landing that his meal was still in there (assuming oven?) if he wants.
This set of crew seemed to have overnight somewhere the day before and been flying the whole day and this was their last flight before going home (as the CSM was trying to remember where she parked her car).
Other then this, great CSM which did lots of refill run even on this short flight.

Cheers!

LGW catering changed back in November but not to Do&Co. I think it's Nurest which is the same company that does the LCY catering. Apart from the new pud pots I wasn't overly impressed with the offering over the Christmas break. I'm thankful however that the never changing feta and pepper salad bowl from the previous caterers is finally dead and buried.

Celeriac salad (odd!) Chicken Korma, coriander rice, (Not bad) cheese and chocolate mousse

Usually have champagne when travelling but seemed right to have Brewdog Speedbird with curry and it worked a treat. Had champagne after though.

Does anyone know what happens to the bottles of champagne that haven’t been finished? . Crew were trying to get me to have as much as I could cope with but it wasn’t empty. I assume it isn’t kept for next flight?
