An interlining query....
Interlining luggage remains a grey area to me, so I invite others more experienced in these matters to offer their views and advice. Am travelling MCT to DOH on Qatar with an 8 hour transit in DOH then BA back to LHR. As I'm F on BA I wish to spend much of this time in Al Safwa. Each leg is on a separate PNR though I suspect that is not relevant these days. My concern is that I'll need to collect luggage at DOH and then get stuck groundside because BA doesn't open until 3 hours prior to departure. HBO is not an option as my travelling companion requires much more 'stuff' than I. Spending the wee hours sitting the wrong side of immigration ie not in Al Safwa is something I am really keen to avoid.
One other possible complication is acquiring the BA boarding pass -required for access to Al Safwa. But am assuming check-in can be done on-line and BP retained on mobile so am discounting this as an issue. Thoughts on whether my QR-BA interlining worries are justified and advice would be most welcome. |

I have no personal experience of Qatar or MCT as a departure point - but I am sure someone who does will be along soon. Good luck. |
You should be fine for the bags. QR have a policy of checking through bags even on separate tickets (although it isn't clear whether you do have a separate ticket here), see under the "seemless service" tab:
https://www.qatarairways.com/en-gb/a.../oneworld.html Through check-in Qatar Airways is pleased to offer passengers the courtesy of through check of themselves and their bags to their final destination when travelling on multi-sector journeys involving connections onto other oneworld member airlines, even when the trip is booked using separate tickets. |
I have had no problems asking QR to interline to a BA flight after a QR flight, in line with their published policy above (I haven't even tried to asking BA to interline to QR, that appears to be a lost cause). So you should be OK for the order of flights you are taking. The opposite direction, starting on BA, would not work.

Although this is QR policy there are sporadic reports that some assertiveness may be required to get them tp apply it. Some discussion and advice here:

Of course depending on when your flight is, the DOH - LHR leg might be cancelled and you'd be shifted on to QR anyway. It hasn't operated for quite a while now.

Thanks all for your excellent advice, I am now reassured there ought not to be a problem..
