Is cheese a gel?

Pretty simple question really (and one...why, I cannot fathom...has not been asked before, given the BoArd's penchant for fine living) but am I likely to have any trouble taking cheese through security?

Or would it be better checked?

I don't know, but you can get gels for your toe cheese.

Hope this helps.

Assuming you are not taking some dodgy 'cheese in a tube' (the sort so popular with children and North Americans ) I can't see why it would be a problem.

Ah yes, and they also have 'Egg in a Tube (pr. "toob")', a concept so utterly horrifying it made me run screaming from my local Gristedes....food shopping was confined to Whole Foods after that little episode; much safer.

Hi
I would say NO. Simple reason is that cheese is a liquid to start with and anything can be mixed into that cheese. I know it may sound OTT but no one really knows.

I would check with the airline or contact the airport security folk.

regards

BahrainLad - Please let me know how you get on - I want to carry some cheese, however in the form of cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory. Is it classed as liquid or food solid?

One thing I do know = it won't travel too well in checked luggage, especially after sitting on hot tarmac for hour or two.

Nothing particularly special...just planning on loading up on some of the delicious cheap-and-cheerful (hence why you probably can't get it in the UK) queijo when I go to FAO next week. It travels pretty well, as does Bollycao.....

Surely cheese is just as much of a gel as fudge is - and I got fudge through the unbelievably tough restrictions at WAW last week.

Cheese could also be a liquid.

I know it's bad - one look at the nutrition info on the box tells me that (700+ calories and 60% fat a slice) - but boy does the dulce de leche taste good and it's only once or twice a year!

Believe it or not I hate cheese though

Is it an ageing, stinking variety? If so, I agree on aerosol!
