So either BA kept no/too little safety stock or they don’t care about a 3 week service disruption with respect to the champagne. In my optimistic point of view I just assumed the former.
My work life, in part, is about safety stock and ensuring enough stock is available for sale/consumption at the right time. Having safety stock in place to cover ever eventuality would put me very quickly out of business - there is a limit to what safety stock can achieve. Unless you expect BA to have a warehouse dedicated only to LPGS containing multiple turns of stock available?

(And in no way I am a BA 'apologist', I'm only trying to bring some reality into the discussion )

Deep breaths everyone, it's only a couple of weeks. In the meantime, one useful nugget of information I feel duty bound to pass on is that you can procure LPGS in what are called "shops" (ask your batman for more information) in between flights. Applied artfully, such "purchases" can largely obviate the need for first class air tickets.

It is such a fear on this forum to say something that sees BA's point of view, it needs a disclaimer?

Lets hope they have rectified this and have lots of extra stocks in CCR LHR & CCR JFK as well as on board for the bank holiday weekend in August...

Or there will be a lot of very unhappy people on the PHX do...

It is sad that bringing some reality or balance into the discussion requires a disclaimer that one is not an 'apologist.'
