BA Bracing Itself For Redundancies ?
A certain aviation ‘analysist’ that might or might not have preferences for a middle eastern carrier tweeted on Friday that he has received many emails from BA staff saying they have been warned to brace themselves for substantial redundancies over the coming months.
Now I know this person doesn’t seem to like BA but do fear there’s no smoke without fire.. we all know that BA are cutting back left right and centre but I am thinking what can they cut back.
Initially I did think outsourcing but then their was their U turn on the call centres and whilst BA haven’t had any major PR gaffes of late they won’t want to alienate people that they might have just won back/over.
i have never wanted a tweet from this person to be more wrong..

The main "people reduction" theme of the last Capital Markets Day was the intention to take a lot more people out of Waterside, rather than front line staff. If this is true, it could be related to that.

There are many reason why IAG is profitable. as simons1 had pointed out, the HR policy is one. I would like to point out that BA's profitability in last 3 quarters are linked to the on-going efforts of sale and lease back its fleet. This is well documented in their quarterly result. Personally I am not convinced yet. In the meantime I will congratulate to IAG/BA management for its achievement, however I will not be fully convinced until Q1 in 2019 when there is no more room for sale and lease back on aircraft available at last 3 quarters scale.
