Winter 18 changes: LGW-OAK suspended, 1x LAS flight moves to LGW

My last OAK-LGW flight had 50 people onboard... Seems they’re struggling to market it as a flight to the Bay Area. Let’s see if it returns in 2019.

1x flight each to LAS from LHR and LGW in the Winter Schedules.

Or the lack of decent connectivity on the London end plus BA’s crap product on LHW 777s render it rather unsuccessful. I was looking for J redemptions to the Bay Area and wouldn’t even consider it.

They’ll soon all be the best 777 configs out there soon, post refresh.

Perhaps if they included it within the flight search for SFO that might have raised awareness.

BA.com offers me LGW-SFO via DUB on EI so why not it's own flight to OAK?

but as @sts603 mentions it's the awful product from LGW that put's me off even though LGW is a lot easier for me to get to.

For J, that’s a low bar. A BA 777 in J is an option of last resort. A cabin refresh will do little to change that. It’s still a cramped flying dorm with.

We don't know how much cargo is loaded. Even if the flight is still unprofitable I wonder if it is still worth it for BA in order to spoil the field for DY?

Why compete if you can't win? That would be a waste of money. BA should focus more on fortress LHR.

I’d hardly call four rows a cramped dorm

It looks like BA agree with you on this point!

I know the three LGW slots are going to LAS (moved from LHR), but I wonder if there is scope to add a frequency or two to CUN as well considering VS are cancelling the route next January?

Doesn't sound very appealing though...if VS couldn't make it pay...

Do you by chance have a link to the announcement?

VS have openly said they are struggling on Caribbean routes, plus they are scrambling around for aircraft to cover the 787's. Although saying that, the new config 777 will be an uptick in capacity anyway, so maybe that's enough.
