Avios needed for CX DPS-HKG

Hello,

Does anyone know why the system is quoting 37500 avios plus £18.10 for CX business DPS to HKG when economy is 12500 plus £18.10. Other CX routes seem to be just double economy as usual.

Thanks 😊

HKG-DPS is in Band 4. Band 4 (2001-3000 miles) is now 3x the Avios for business class. Has been since 2015.

If spending the extra for J, be aware that this is a route where you can't be certain whether you'll get the long-haul Cirrus or significantly inferior regional J product. You can check what's scheduled at the time of booking but CX can swap aircraft at any time.

FWIW I flew there and back last week and both birds were regional (773 out, 772 back). I was in Y which was pretty empty both ways so was happy enough not having paid for J, even though it's quite a long flight. Only ate fruit onboard so wasn't bothered about meals.

DPS tends to be regional.

That's right, and also half of the DPS flights are in fact Dragonair (which is always the "regional" product).
