Took a fascinating little trip to Croydon airport today - it's a nice little museum and the building itself is largely intact although with considerable modifications for its new day-job, which is as office space. Plenty to look at, but interesting in the context of the new CW seating to see a luxury seat c1930. It's not really worth a major trip, but as a little detour from London on the first Sunday of every month it's a nice day out.

I've also included the HP42 seatmap which is in a little brochure. Crew of two pilots, one engineer, and a steward, whose first job of the day was always to go out and purchase the food for the flight.

Crossing the road from the graciously appointed airport building to the modern leisure park for lunch was a rude awakening though.

Wowza ... love it!

You could hear the howls of protest on FlyerTelegram, though. “I had to sit facing another passenger for hours and hours.”

And I bet the “Which is the best seat on the H.P.42?” discussion dragged on a bit!

I could never have imagined you popping up with a comment like that!

I’ve never flown in anything pre-WW2 (Anson, DC-3, DC-4) although the real T8191 was built in 1940, so quite close! I followed 4 years later.

@ bisonrav - thanks for posting about the little museum.

It does sound interesting .... worth a (brief) visit, and I’ve made a mental note.

And well done for getting that close-up shot of the new Club World Suite. Looks a lot better than I thought

Did they serve tea with the afternoon tea, or was tea an extra?

Do I get Tier Points for each sector or just over all as it’s the same flight number? What about the over night hotel stays , will these count individually towards my Hilton Membership?
