Since making GCH status I'm currently in the beautiful wing restaurant in HKG. Is that what the CCR is like in LhR. I only get in the GF lounge in LHR.
the wing is a light year ahead of the GF

You'll get plenty of comments on the fantastic HKG/LHR CX lounges in comparison to the CCRs. I, personally, much to prefer spending time in the CX options.

You can add the most of the QF and CX F lounges to the 'better than GF' list. And whilst less clear-cut I'd argue that the new AA Flagship lounges also beat GF.
That being said GF isn't a bad place to spend an hour or so, but I certainly wouldn't describe it as luxurious.

CX Wing is just ahead of CCR for me.
Pet dislikes are:
Restaurant area has no sun light, although food is very good.
Toilet areas are very dark with black walls, but better than CCR.
Wing can get very busy at times, meaning a wait for restaurant/toilet.
Cabana is outstanding and shames the CCR.
The pier is in a different league to the CCR.
As said I much prefer CX lounge offerings than BA, in locations such as HND/LHR/SIN.

As others have said, the Pier is quite amazing. It's on the other end of the airport but depending on where you're departing from it might not be that far from where you need to be anyways. The Wing does get quite crowded so even with the walk I still prefer the Pier.

Thank goodness for this! First time I visited the Wing, I was underwhelmed and convinced myself afterwards that I must have missed the 'real' lounge and somehow just found the lobby or terrace equivalent. So next time I went ferreting around. Nope, no appeal for me at all. So it's the Pier every time for me - it's a league apart.
