Capital Markets Day: new announcements

Presentation here: http://www.iairgroup.com/phoenix.zht...-presentations

Seen so far:
Product
- Extra £200m to be invested in Club World (£600m in total)
- Lounges in 2018 (include): JFK, Rome & Aberdeen
- "Improved catering in every cabin" - whether that means no more snack basket in Economy. "New" long-haul catering starts January 2018 "greater quantity and improved quality....new and better snacks."

Fleet
- Heathrow B747 refurbishment starts 2018 (?) - > Anyone know more about what is going on here?
- B767s gone by 2017 and 10 A320NEOs 3 A321NEOs in 2018
- Page 17 and 120 linked. It appears BA will get 3 more B777-300s based on the document -replacing three B777-200s (I initially thought it was a mistake because there is no mention in the IAG fleet plan)
- By 2020, there will be 2 more B787s at BA (compared to previous 2020 plan last year)

Technology
- Auto-boarding for international flights to be rolled out

More to follow...

Just been looking at the Singapore airlines new offering. And I wonder if this investment in CW is going to be enough to keep it competitive.

Buy on board coming to long haul economy, nailed-on.

Where did the first £400m go? Some blankets and food for LHR-JFK?

I guess competitive will not trying to compete to be the best product in the world.
More likely competitive enough to keep it mostly full!

Could be the end of the line for the three non-ER 772s (G-ZZZ*) by the sound of it?

That might be the logical view but my heart will miss those beautiful aircraft.

it is me or is the WTP launch picture on page 15 stolen from the fleet tracker on FT?

And that is pretty much it - rose-tinted nostalgia.

So much about many of these aircraft is now tired - the cabins, the IFE, the seating, and especially the passengers who were not fortunate enough to be on the upper deck that just got off one after a 10 hour flight.

I think there are 18 in the 52J set-up. There are also some 86J aircraft which date back to the mid 1990s. I counted 36 747s in all, so that suggests a dozen will be retained.

I still think an ageing 747 beats pretty much any 777.

Would it not make sense to analyze the detail first before heading down this negative train of thought?
