HKG-SIN Avios Availability

Has anyone noticed dismal availability for HKG-SIN in all classes except premium economy?

I've searched 3 random months for a one-way ticket (March, June, October not during National Holidays week) and every single day only has premium economy flights (5 - 7 seats) on CX 759, 713, or 735 -- none in Y/C/F. Given that there are 8 flights a day, and that I'm searching almost 8 months in advance, surely they can't all be full? I've searched the last day bookable (11 Feb 2017) and it still only shows Y+ available.

When I search F, it doesn't even show the F column in the results - only Y, Y+, and C, which is what makes me think this is BA IT performing to its...usual standards.

Edit: When I search on CX (only other OW FF program I have...), I see "Standard" award availability literally every day in March, on 7 flights (not including the one with a stop in BKK). Surely CX doesn't restrict its availability by such a disparate margin? The Avios availability for long haul routes (ZRH/CDG/LHR/DUS/MXP/FCO-HKG) is much more in ligne with what CX shows.

Edit 2: Have searched other regional destinations (CEB, MNL, BKK, KUL, SGN, etc.) and they're appearing fine.

Is this a known problem on BA, or are planes really that packed (except for Y+)?

I don't think any of the CX planes on HKG-SIN (even the one that stops in BKK) have F, though some have very nice lie-flat J whilst some have the regional J product.

Seems strange as I was looking last year and there was plenty of availability via BA.com, although most flights only had 2 seats in J, unless you went on the flight via BKK. Might be worth a call...

It's been years since I've flown it in F, but I remember a very nice op-up on the late night flight (CX 715) -- has it been removed?

What's stranger is that even Y is all gone on every single day... these planes have on average 300 Y seats! I will definitely initiate a call to BA tonight...

When I flew the route last year there were no F containing planes. I think you can get F on 777 HKG-BKK( operated with F 2 days a week I think) but then you have to change to an A330 with J only.

Not sure about SIN, but I regularly redeem Avios for HKG-KUL (and vice versa). Rarely have a problem with availability and usually, all cabins (Y, Y+, C) have been available even at 1 month notice. When there is limited availability, it's Y+ that's unavailable whilst Y and C are still bookable.

I am 110% sure that a call to BA won't change anything about CX award availability.

I'm sorry, but I'm not convinced at all. Could you provide some sample dates?

Here's what I see in March with randomly picked dates, other dates look exactly the same (left column is Y, middle is W, right is J/C):

I don't believe CX is currently providing an F service HKG-SIN. You can double-check this on the CX board.

Just did a random search

CX have swapped out most of the long-haul product with their regional product on the HKG to SIN route.

They do operate the nice J seats on the overnight flights sometimes, but the day flights are pretty much all regional (2-3-2) seating.

Availability is usually hard to find for the convenient evening and morning flights, daytime ones usually have plenty of J space - but with the product change it's not such a nice route anymore.

I redeemed Avios for J HKG-SIN in September. Availability was solid. It does look like something has changed, hopefully temporary.

It's an okay product for a sub-four hour flight, especially factoring in the CX lounges at HKIA, but SQ does currently have the better hard product on this route.

I see the same results as neofung on both the BA and CX sites.

F is not sold to SIN, and long haul aircraft swaps are increasingly rare now. Almost everything is regional A330/777.

CX are clearly restricting Avios availability, I assume to keep their own customers happy. I do this route once a month or more and it's almost always full.
