Also bear in mind that:

In certain countries one can cancel any transaction that was made online within 14 days of purchase (regardless of any conditions / restrictions). Is it possible to do so in the UK? Only recently did I cancel a trip booked on BA.com 13 days after the purchase and only paid a minimal fee of roughly 20USD.

They don't cover these types of transactions though so no. Buying an airfare is not covered by distance selling regulations.

24 Hours cancellation policy

Just a quick question about the 24 Hours cancellation policy, is this also when using avios to book flight on partner airlines, e.g. Flybe, or CX, or other OW alliance members? Or is it only when using avios to fly on BA flights?

Thanks.

There is nothing to suggest non BA flights booked with avios via BA are not covered. However, you must call to cancel - if you cancel online on mmb that won't be treated as a cooling off period cancellation.

Topcashback

Apologies if this has already been reported but I haven't seen any reference to this useful potential source of Avios for UK based members. Earnings on Topcashback.com can be converted into Avios at a rate of 1 mile per penny, with a 5% bonus, so converting £1 of cashback will earn 105 miles. The site pays cashback when you make a purchase having registered with and then clicked through their site. Many high street and online retailers participate and cashback be be obtained on buying clothes, electrical goods and financial services products amongst others.

I have used Topcashback for many years and found it to be a good way of receiving discounts on things I was going to buy anyway. Other cashback sites e.g. quidco are available and are good, albeit without the Avios earning.

Please note that the above links are generic, I will not benefit in any way from you signing up, although if you are feeling kind then please use the link below and I will receive a referral payment, at no cost to you, if you use the service.

Topcashback tell-a-friend.

There are a number of individual threads relating to TCB (converting to Tesco seems to be a better deal):

Bear in mind that the TCB->Tesco Clubcard->BAEC route will net more avios per pound of cashback earned. Although I think there is a limit to how much you can transfer across to Tesco.

It's £50 per year, starting with your first transfer. 5% bonus in your first year I think.

When you hit your max, you can only transfer Hilton cashback into Tesco for the rest of the year.

I suppose you could use the TCB->transfer for cash earned from other merchants, but it's a less favourable conversion.

Thank you Jerry, I was only searching within this thread as it seems to be set up as the master source on how earn points.

Hi all

This is my first post in this forum.

As CX changes the rule for the MPC in Apr, I plan to change to BA executive club. After reading this extremely detailed thread, I still have a question to ask about.

It said that 2 eligible flights are required to reach Bronze and 4 are required to reach Silver and Gold. If I go from Blue to Gold in one membership year, may I know the eligible flight needed is 2+4+4=10 or is just simply 4?

Thanks.

It's just 4 in total in the year.

An update. I did remove my BAEC number from the booking, however the avios were still posted. I assume it is due to partial avios payment , when i was booking the ticket and the baec somehow got stuck in the system.

benberg2013 Feb 28, 2016 9:35 am

Does my BAEC Silver status help me on flybe flights, e.g. to pre-book a seat? I thought that with Flybe, only earning avios is possible, when buying a flight. And when booking with avios, a free suitcase. But just want confirmation.

karcer Feb 28, 2016 9:41 am

Possibly Dumb question

I must purchase two tickets for individuals travelling Romania to YYZ return. Is there any way I can get credit (Avios and tier points ) for this purchase and subsequent flights of these individuals.

Any help is appreciated.
