I recently took my first BA business class flight; overall it was fine, pleasant enough crew, on time, reasonable films and comfy enough seat. A solid enough product.
But I couldn’t help compare it to other airlines I’ve recently used, and it really struck me that BA is miles behind on the little details, that can make a difference.
For example.
No business class bag drop off (just a huge queue for WT drop off and rammed business class check-in).
Wasn’t called by name once on either flight
No welcome drink (think that was an oversight)
Didn’t take a post take off drinks order – thereby slowing things down.
Flying back from the Caribbean you want a quick meal then sleep – why not take food orders whilst loading passengers?
I was flying with my wife and son, due to the seating configuration my wife and son were served separately to me meaning different time meals.
Neither of us had starters my wife’s crew therefore got her main straight away (good thinking) mine didn’t (we had the same thing)
No table cloth on the tray
No button hole on the napkin ( I know this is minor but boy it's helpful!)
No kids toys / welcome pack (but a very good / thoughtful kids meal)
The way orders are taken is bonkers going round the plane in order of status – to such an extent that the couple next me the wife (Gold) had her order taken husband didn’t till 10 minutes later
None of these things cost (much) money but would move BA up the service
