If it was me I would book based on ease of getting to LON airport, flight time and price.

I would suggest taking into account:
flight times - arrival and return for hotel checkin/out, if applicable
lounges
rare possible upgrade chances - emphasis on rare
if bit geeky like me - aircraft preference
ease of getting to LGW/LHR

Price usually sorts these things out for me: LGW generally seems significantly cheaper. If there's no great difference in fares, then its down to timings.Originally Posted by January87

It is a nice lounge, though make sure you prebook as it gets busy quickly with anyone and everyone being able to use it (though less so since the 'My Lounge' opened up, operated by the same people with a more cut down offering).
You can have a complimentary hot dish per person from the menu with any additional ones modestly priced at something like 4, or nearer the 10 mark for something more substantial (burgers etc).
It has a well stocked, manned bar and they are not at all tight with measures!
It's a good way to kill a couple of hours, the loos are also much nicer than the BA ones (that's not saying much, though).

I'd choose the BA flights into LHR rather than EI to LGW.
Tired old planes and tired old service ex LGW.
If you want to be herded and barked at like a holidaymaker (and not just on the ground) then stick with the flight LGW. If you want to be treated with a bit of intellect then go LHR.
