No BA only AA DFW - LHR?

Long time lurker, rarely poster.

3-4 times a year I fly ABQ - GOT (or sometimes CPH). For the last several years I have done this on BA: ABQ - DFW - LHR - GOT in Club World. I have Gold status and enjoy the BA lounges, but also the Club World seating, as I usual am in 64A upper deck on a 747. The price is also right, as are the connections from ABQ.

Now in looking to book this route for my upcoming trips, the overwhelming majority of flights between DFW - LHR are on AA, usually a 767, which in my humble experience are old and scrappy. I am less than underwhelmed with the AA product, given I am paying the same as I do for the BA product. Using ORD as a stop looks to be the same as well.

Questions: Will the AA planes on this route be upgraded to the new standard any time soon? Is BA abandoning this route altogether, and handing it over to AA for good?

Given the choice between sticking with BA but flying these AA aircraft, or switching loyalty to another airline/group, I will switch rather than fly the old AA aircraft when there are better choices available.

Thank you for your time and responses.

Isn't there an AA flight on the 777-300? In terms of the seat, I like it better than CW on BA.

BA aren't abandoning the route, have you checked on BA for the dates you want to fly to see if there is availability on that day?

@ParisMoskau I have yet to find a flight on the 777-300. I would gladly take it! Either they are not on this route, or only available through AA's site at a higher price or something. I have never seen it offered on an itinerary for my route through the BA site or other travel sites.

Are you guys wizards?!?!?

So on a whim I just checked the BA site for the umpteenth time in the last 2 months.

Found a flight departing all BA, and the kicker? First was cheaper than business on that leg! Huh?!?

Found a return through ORD on an AA 777. Let's hope it's a nice one!

Thanks for the help, and now let's just hope I continue to get lucky in the future! Odd, though, that I wasn't able to find these earlier.

Edit: Alas, 77 is old 2-3-2 config. Oh well...

ORD return will be 772 which I don't think they have started redoing with the fully flat product.

Indeed there is. AA50 which was one of the very first 77W services operated by AA.

I believe AA flies a 772, 773, and a 763 on this route daily and as we all know the BA 744 too. Some seem to think here BA will switch to the 380 now that QF & EK are, but who knows.

BA192 is our BA 747 flight from DFW. AA's offerings include 777 service. The 767 service is one of their new J and Y configurations, no F.

Wrong. The AA 763 DFW-LHR service is still the slanty seats (and hasn't had 3 class service more over a decade, if ever?). Only AA's the 777-300 (coded "77W" in schedules) has the suites in J. The 777-200s (All) and most 763s (except 5 airframes, currently only flying some JFK-Europe routes: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...-2014-a-5.html) still have the crappy old biz seats.

Ooops you're right, I was mixed up. I checked EF and saw the 767 J and Y then recalled AA was converting some 777s to J and Y which will have the new suite. The new J and Y will be on the 777. Sorry, my bad.

Indeed - so far the first 777-200 to be converted is still in the shop at HKG (after three months), so don't hold your breath - slanty sleep for a while yet
