I'm not sure that you do. The first two options you list seem to be based on the assumption that getting to Bronze or Silver before the end of the current TP collection year would reduce the number of TPs you need to reach Gold the next year. It won't.

Each membership year your tier points reset to zero. You need to collect the same number of tier points to re-qualify as you do to qualify from nothing.

I have had little success understanding or trying to work out how to put together a, in this case then, 1400TP run the other side of Nov 8, so if somebody could kindly post an idea / Matrix codes or PM me with the route etc, again I would much appreciate it! I think I'm getting a TPrunitis fever building now...

So, between Nov. 9th 14 and Nov. 8th 15, you need to earn 1500 TP's to get gold (regardless of your status or TP's as of Nov.8th). If you were Bronze on Nov. 8th 14 you would enjoy the benefits of Bronze for the following year but the TP's are still reset on Nov. 9th 14.
So, yes, along with the others, I would also suggest simply waiting until the 9th Nov. and then start your TP runs. The strategy could take several paths but you may find a combination of the following a good compromise:
Do a few city breaks / weekend breaks to EU destinations in CE where sales / fares are good so you get some nice breaks and earn TP's. If you choose certain destinations (shown in the wiki) you will get 160 TP's for each return trip you do. (80 TP's otherwise).
Do a TP run locally before trying a monster in the US...just to see if you really want to put up with the madness! So, try a AMS/JER/LGW combination when this is on sale to see if you really want to do a couple of back to back flights or short connections with no other purpose than collecting Avios and TP's...it may not be your thing and you will only have spent a day or two doing this and far less cash than some monster itinerary in the US for more money.
If you do have a trip to the US planned, then a TP run over there would be advisable and you can then decide how much or little you need/want to add on. If you do a AMS/JER/LGW run or two, a couple of weekend trips including one to HEL/IST or so, then the US trip doesn't need to be 1500 TP's...it could be as little as 720 TP's needed on top of the actual US feeder flight.
Hope this helps. As you indicated, the madness is best brought about slowly...burn too brightly and too quickly you fade quickly as well...
If you already have 160 TP's planned (from the two SH trips you mention, if you upgrade the second one)...and then do a AMS/JER/LGW (twice) you will get 320 TP's for that. Do 3 CE weekends (2 with 160 TP returns) will net you 400 TP's. This already brings you to 160 + 320 + 400 = 880 TP's and you will have enjoyed the trips rather than one massive week of sitting on planes! This will give you Silver and let you decide if you even need Gold....however, if you want to get to Gold then you only need to find a good deal (like the current ones from DUB or OSL) and you can easily get the remaining TP's you need for less than £ 1500 in comfort with CW/business class seating. ^
Not the most economically advantageous way to gold mind, but a lot better for your sanity and spread over a much more enjoyable time frame with some enjoyment of the whole travel experience and hopefully exploring a few new cities as well.
Spread this over a whole year and you will be able to anticipate the coming trips and enjoy them when they occur. ^

BotB - thank you very much for that detailed and informative response. I can see the appeal of the bite a bit at a time strategy and enjoy as you go - however, the TPrunitis fever that I mentioned has now quickly developed into a full blown case of Goldcardicitis and Silver will not heal my ailment! I tend to be more on the 'all or nothin' side of the fence, so one big TP run to knock Gold on the head (as much as it might well be a test in many ways) would probably suit me better. Then, with Gold in the bag, and with what will be a total of over 200,000 Avios (considering what I already have) can be enjoyed with the fam. on these pleasant weekends away you aptly describe!

I just do not know what I am doing! I am happy to pay someone who can just show me how and save the time/learning curve - is there anyone on here who would do this or does it as a 'side job' or a paid service? I would like to take the mystery out of it (that it holds for me presently). I wouldn't expect time to be spent for me for free, but equally I do not really want to spend so much time which could take me weeks/ months to catch up to those posters who clearly know all of the in's and out's already. I pay consultants who know things I don't for my business all the time, I am willing to do the same here. I'd simply like to cut straight to the chase if possible! Hi TP Run Experts,
The conversations started today by Callahan44 have prompted me to finally sign up and post as I find myself in a very similar situation.
My goal is to reach Silver status (can't personally see the benefits of gold based on my lifestyle) and raise enough avios (utilising card churning as well as flying) to make a seat in F for my honeymoon next year a little more achievable. Membership year has just started (expires Oct 2015) with 70TP's banked from a recent holiday in Y.
Having done A LOT of reading, I'm thinking a couple of JER-LGW-MLA-LGW-JER runs a few months apart would take me to 550, with positioning flights taking me over 600, however a few hours of playing on ba.com has only resulted in getting:
£1.96/TP | £471 | 240TPs | JER-LGW-MLA-LGW-JER | I/I/I/I | ba.com | continentalclub | Sat Night Stay | BA
to come back, and only if I spread it over 3 days (!) as the planner insists on a minimum of 180 minutes between flights. I can’t even get:
£1.33/TP | £319 | 240TPs | JER-LGW-MLA-LGW-JER | J/R/R/J | ba.com | skipcool3 | BA
working at all!
Am I missing something, or is the cheaper of the two only available during a flight sale?

It might be worth our while creating a Matrix master thread / tutorial.
