Mile High Club "etiquette"

Long time lurker, but first time poster.

There have been a few discussions about mile high club but here is my story.

I flew back from JFK in F last night. I spotted two guys from the F cabin "sharing" the same lavatories for 10 minutes.
I thought "you lucky b... , what a good way to spend the time in the sky!" And I hope they had fun.

But what is the etiquette here?
I mean as a flight attendant, if you observe the situation, what would you do? Knock at the door, spoke to the lucky passengers, report it back to corporate, do nothing?

Same as a passenger, what would you do? Report it back to the FA or to the CSD, talk to them, look at them with envy?

Well that's one way to join the club, bnd75003. Sorry I meant the Flyertalk British Airways Forum, otherwise known the Board since everything is above it, of course. Thank you for the question, it's good to see you here so please come again.

I have to plead the Third Amendment but it's not so unusual from what I've seen, so long as it's not too obvious (as it was on one flight I had with, inevitably, VS). And on the A380 there's practically an invitation to get stuck in. As to your final question, depending on the plumbing you could ask to join in, but if it's a 747 it maybe a bit of a squeeze.

layz Nov 23, 2013 9:04 am

Keep the door closed and don't make too much noise :D

Did these two guys know each other previously or meet on board?

I think the A380 is more suited to this. Some massive toilets on the upper deck in CW.

On a post about the mile high club you say that you don't want "soldiers parked in your quarters" ooh errr! :D
(Confession, I had to look up the 3rd!)

I've seen a few aborted attempts, never anyone getting away with it...

HIDDY Nov 23, 2013 9:12 am

What position were you in which allowed you such a grandstand view of this incident?

It may well have been a carer or partner helping a passenger with a disability.

Not all disabilities are immediately visible. I'm sure disabled folk love being peered at by creepy, leering ("you lucky b...") people like yourself.

layz Nov 23, 2013 9:17 am

To answer your other questions I think if the cabin crew discovers them they must look up their names on the manifest and do and announcement "congratulations to ..... and ..... who've just joined the mile high club".

As a passenger you just need to go over and ask if they'd like to perform again later in the flight ;)

That of course is another possibility. Not everything is as it seems. Although if they just met on the plane and got talking then we could rule that out.

Greenpen Nov 23, 2013 9:22 am

Does'nt VS provide double beds to allow this in a normal civilised manner? I am sure I saw Richard showing off this facility some time ago so I had assumed it was standard on all VS planes. If these beds exist I will never, never fly BA again.

I think that was more marketing than reality. Even if they had double beds you're probably not supposed to have sex in them as they'd lack privacy.

Not sure how I need to understand that.

But they clearly didn't know each other before and I really thought good for them. I found the situation really funny as I love observing people whilst sitting on a plane ( there isn't much else to do anyway)!

I get the funny feeling that C-W-S really wanted to describe that he would "Take the 5th" in relation to the Mile High Club, but the third gave an equally amusing response :D

layz Nov 23, 2013 9:35 am

We could start a MHC meetup wiki on this thread.

1-Dec-13 / BA1337 /M /M

(Please note I'm not really on that flight, just an example) ;)

That's the Airbus 319 NCL to LHR service late on a Sunday. I think not, there's hardly anyone awake with a pulse on that service, not that would necessarily be a problem for some people. And in any case it has only about 10 minutes in the, er, cruise.

ManchesterBAFlyer Nov 23, 2013 9:44 am

Perhaps BA could offer membership of the MHC as a special benefit to those passengers who accrue a certain number of tier points beyond Premier.
I think it would certainly increase revenue, particularly if they mirrored the travel spa, offering a preorder selection of potential companions and activities from a menu released 30 days before the flight if travelling in First and a waitlist on boarding for those travelling in Club.

I thought you'd recognise that flight ;) for some people 10 mins is enough.

I was a regular on this flight on Sunday evenings one time in the past, but not currently, but never done anything like this on a plane.

stevieed Nov 23, 2013 9:57 am

I must be a prude! I'd be pretty annoyed if people were getting it on whilst I was around. I don't really want to use a toilet and find some "hair gel" :(

papabear Nov 23, 2013 10:08 am

If BA really enhanced BAEC based on customer feedback, I'd like them to to recognise and reward the entry of a member of the MHC. At least if it's from a OneWorld flight. 1000 TP's towards the lifetime gold status?

Hoch Nov 23, 2013 10:14 am

Ah, but the burning question is was the loo the one with the window and was the shade up
or down :p

H

mario Nov 23, 2013 10:16 am

I don't see any issues with this. BA knows that customers want what is appropriate for the time of the day.

Joining the High Mile Club during a red eye appears to fit that requirement.

It is also possible that they were having sex. Don't be so self-important.

I LOVE this idea. Though let's start with a more glamorous route, please..

I can't think of a more glamorous route than NCL-LHR ;)

husband: really? I hadn't noticed.

Well one would be your own gender and the other what you're looking for. Based on the current lounge guesting thread.

T8191 Nov 23, 2013 10:50 am

Something that was never really lacking from my life, and now it's probably too late. Damn, damn, damn.

Is it allowed with women? Just checking.

I'm sure everyone on here checks their IFE as it's an easier source of free Avios than Tesco ;)

No the burning question is was drspear standing outside, incandescent with rage because they were taking more than a "reasonable" amount of time! :D

Swiss Tony Nov 23, 2013 10:54 am

I'm sure someone once posted the rules for the MHC on here, something along the lines of:

"Someone new, not in the loo and not with the crew..."

Both are possible - none of us were in the bathroom with them.

However when the choice is between a neutral explanation or a salacious one suggested in a trolling thread I believe the neutral explanation is more likely.

It's allowed with whoever you want it to be ;)

For the avoidance of doubt I'd never do this, nowhere to shower afterwards, and if I was flying EK where they do have showers I'd be too worried that I'd be violating UAE law and get hung on arrival into DXB ;)

I hope the crew greeted the opening loo door with two glasses of LPGS and a loud "congratulations, welcome to the MHC!"

Not in the loo? There aren't really that many places to have a go at it (if you'll pardon the expression) unless one is really a bit of an exhibitionist.

On that note - and it's hard to believe it's been ten years, but this does remind me of the story of the Spanish couple that helped BA celebrate Concorde going out with an extra bang...
http://www.pprune.org/passengers-slf...-concorde.html

Obviously on Concorde you wouldn't dream of doing it in the loo - way to cramped, and already too hot anyway...

T8191 Nov 23, 2013 11:19 am

The Elsan on a C-130 at the start of the ramp would be at the low end of the scale, although I'm sure the curtains have been drawn for that purpose.

Oh, it's one of those weekend threads, with a short life (hopefully) :D

missdimeaner Nov 23, 2013 11:46 am

Up thread someone mentioned VS and double beds.....

Maybe they are saving it for Virgin Galactic ...Velcro slippers anyone ??

Seeing as I will be travelling in Y most so the time I will curb my need for unfettered lust, can you imagine the queue of passengers waiting ?

I met a guy in the HKG First Class Wing - we hit it off and by chance he was in 2A on the same flight as I (2K). We dined together on board and it was great - we did not join MHC, though. It's just not my thing - sex in a toilet??

Kudos to the folks in the OP tho. Wonder if it was good?!

kanderson1965 Nov 23, 2013 11:54 am

Mods please lock this thread or move to OMNI, it is not befitting of the BA board. :(

Speedbird876 Nov 23, 2013 12:03 pm

I'm not sure why I want to know this, but did they both get up from their seats at the same time or did they stagger it? You go now, I'll follow in five minutes.

What about their return? Did they try to conceal it?

And did other passengers/crew notice?

Can I help you Nov 23, 2013 12:08 pm

I am guessing I know why you want to know Speedbird876. :o
I like to offer a hot towel service and a round of applause. :D
