European GGL Threshold
My understanding is that the threshold for Euro GGL is 2500 x 2 years.
However, the US/UK GGL is 3000 x 2 or 5000 x 1 year.
Is there a reduced 1 year benchmark for Euro members? Or is it also 5000?
Also, is the call centre located somewhere in mainland Europe or are we expected to use the UK centre?

If it really is 2500 for 2 years in EU then I got screwed.
More correctly: I screwed myself since I had over 2500 in 2009 and close to that in 2010 but I never bothered to reach it since i believed the GGL to be 2x3000 everywhere.

Thought you only had to hit 3k once though to hit GCL list, didn't realise it was 2 years in a row.

Yes. Once I realized that there was nothing more to gain than retain Gold (early in 2010) I decided to do some trips in Y instead of J and J instead of F. If I knew that 2009 had been year 1 for GGL I might have even considered a TP run to the US to secure GGL and the GUF2. The GUF2 alone wasn't worth it.
A related question: is GGL a 'level' in the sense that you get a soft landing to Gold?

No. I meant yes, it is close. You can do 800 or so TPs in a day in the US and flying one flight to the US in J on money instead of redemptions would have generated quite a lot too. I took at least 2 LH on redemptions I could have done as regular tickets.
It would have required some planning but as I said, I did not realize there was anything to plan for. Still don't since there is no clearcut answer if 2500 is indeed the EU threshold.
How about the soft landing from GGL? Does it exist?

Thanks! And I mean thanks. And thanks DWFI.
Most interesting for me would have been an soft landing to Gold. I am already quite satisfied with the BAEC line in NL (albeit for their lousy opening hours) and I would not use a joker really. My joker is simply paying for the ticket.
Or am I still missing something?
EDIT: Time for some honesty here... I am actually quite ticked off with myself that I did not know this since I would have liked the status and the more frequent upgrades (I guess)... Darn!

Yes, I am grossly overpaid (in relation to my contribution to society, not compared to my co-workers) but by no means comparable to the financial sector.
