EZE Redemption Routing Question?
Friend of mine I've inducted into the DC/MBNA/MilesandCash game ( ^ ) needs to go to EZE next year.
Outbound route is a no brainer LHR-FRA-EZE in LH F if he can get it (F terminal and limo etc etc)
Coming back he might want to stop in NYC, given that there is a UA EZE-IAD flight. Does anyone know if a DC Zone4-Zone1 redemption EZE-IAD-NYC(stop)-LHR would be permitted? It's not really backtracking but it's arguably not the most "direct" route?
If it is allowed, is UA C/F bad enough NYC-LHR to warrant doing LH NYC-FRA-LHR?

Recently did this reward flight. Because you don't check-in at FRA you don't get the limo or use of the big F terminal, there is another F lounge in the departure terminal (hard to find, but excellent). Another thing to take into account is the taxes, flights through FRA pay a high tax.
You can do zone 4 to 1 via the US. Never travelled UA in F, so no advice there, but if you go down to EZE, I would do a stop at GIG on the way back. The flight LH flight stops at GRU and GIG is just an hour away.
Also remember that LH F is an old style seating in the 747 upper deck (2-2). Very nive but If travelling alone I prefer the individual pods of other airlines.
Good luck

I was in UA international F earlier this year on an award flight LHR - SFO (B777). Whilst the UA First Suite is old and dated by comparison, I found them to be much more comfortable than VS UC and got a better nights sleep.
The cabin crew were very courteous and the service excellent. I'll be flying them again in F for sure.
Can't comment on the routing, but seeing that RG have cancelled all but about 4 of their international routes as of today, getting anything via GIG might be a bit difficult?

Interesting thread. I have been looking at going to SCL around November time and was thinking my only option from the UK was LX via ZRH. Could I therefore fly with AC routing LHR-YYZ-SCL for the zone 1-4 miles? This would be good as availability doesn't seem too great with LX, plus maybe AC will have the new J class on the 763 by then.

Tangential to the question, but bear in mind that the possible impending collapse of RG could have an impact on loads to deep South America and, therefore, on award availability. If RG does collapse (which we should expect to know within a week), I would not delay too much getting the award issued.
