i have noticed that you keep using letters i presume for class, can someone please give me a list of what they mean and which earn points??

g is a travel trade/staff positioning code and doesn't earn miles; it's recently started making an appearance as a discounted published fare also. Avoid at all costs if you come across it.

If you're booking on flybmi.com, it normally tells you on the 3rd ('summary') screen, under 'cabin type'. There's a couple of instances where it doesn't, though, and in this case, you need to click on the 'view conditions for this flight' link in the top right-hand corner. It will tell you the fare basis for each leg of the journey, and the fare code is the first letter (the others are usually 'OWBMI' for short-haul).

Either ask your travel agent or if booking at flybmi.com then look at Fare Summary on Page 3 of the booking process and it will tell you what the Fare Basis is.

It'll be a code like "HX1OWBMI" or "YX1BMI" - the first letter is the one that indicates how many miles you'll earn - in these example they are H fares and Y fares, earning 0.5 and 1.5 x base mileage respectively.

Does anyone know of any online booking websites, other than flybmi.com, which give the class code before purchasing tickets?

I stumbled across one a few months ago but stupidly I've lost the URL. Expedia and Travelocity will not give the codes - even in you phone them!

I'm a diamond club silver member but use Lufthansa more than I use bmi, so it would be very useful to get this info when booking.

While we're on the subject - I think I remember some discussion about g class and the WWTE flight/hotel bookings you can do from the bmi website. Is there any way to tell the class of the flights?

Travelocity does give you this information. When you select a specific set of flights there is a link which says "adult fare rules"

Most of the time these rules list the fare class.

Yes, but to be fair that's a very specialist requirement - only anoraks like us would actually consider paying an extra tenner for a few more miles. The vast majority want to see the cheapest non-flexible or the cheapest flexible fare available. I'm not aware of any booking engine other than a CSR on the phone who can easily do what you ask for (although there's a spatchcocked way of doing it with travelocity).

Expedia does. Once you have selected the itinerary, you click on 'Show the summary of all rules and restrictions for this fare' (or somesuch) and it shows the fare class there.

But AFAIK this only works for the (blue coloured) Expedia 'published' fares and not for the (yellow) Expedia specials.

Right; from an unpublished fare you wouldn't be expecting any miles any way, right?

M-class? Premium Economy?
 

I have a question.
I am booked to travel to LHR on a "M" fare.
As the ticket is booked through my father's work, I would like to know if somebody could tell me if the fare is a flexible fare?
I have been having trouble finding that out, even on BMI flyer.
