That's not correct. Every year since more than 10 y. now I book 2-4 seats Europe - Thailand on *aliance, out Germany aprox 19-23 DEC return from Thailand aprox 05-08 Jan. ( schoolholiday NRW ) and I never had a problem, but had to book them 340 days in advance, which is not a problem for me. But with BA ( we had been 3y. gold and aprox 1.6 Mio miles in our household acc. ), I was never ever able to redeem 4 seats in C/F to BKK/SIN/ or CPT/JNB over 5 years ! And we had to burn them for "friends" on flights to USA ( was the only choice ), to burn in C/F

Actually, it looks as though UA is having a bit of a meltdown on the other side of the Atlantic http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...le-agents.html at the moment, so perhaps we are better being absorbed into BA...

Only Y seats can be booked after 12 Dec.... There might be seats available on *A (TG, SQ. TK,..) but I need to book on LH or LX to benefit from the Senator companion award discount. In the past I always found plenty of seats in F on LH/LX using M&M over Xmas (last year I redeemed my expiring TK miles).
If you need help just PM me, may be i can help. |
So what's the second most generous *A millage scheme?
Recent BMI statements make it look a strong likelihood that DC is going to be merged into BA Exec Club.
I’m already a BAEC member, but I would still quite like to be able to carry on collecting and redeeming StarA miles. So if Diamond Club is (was) the most generous Frequent Flyer scheme around – what is the second most generous? Any suggestions where I should try to jump to? |
* Alliance status match?
Now it's official & seems dated BMI are leaving the * Alliance are other Star Alliance airlines now likely to be able to status match? As a DC Gold I prefer to use the Star Alliance. As anyone had any luck? If I can get a decent status match I'll probably re-qualify with number of airlines.

I am so so sad
Hi all
Am grieving as no doubt most of us are - still bit of newbie with all this - was soooo happy with DC Need answers to the following 1. Should I burn my points or roll them over into an as yet undecided FFP 2. If I book a DC redemption now and want to rebook after the demise of DC what happens ? Finally and know this is open to debate which programme is best to replace the demise of my beloved and very sadly missed DC - generally do only one flight a year to Oz + significant MBNA CC accrual but need to hang onto my points as long as possible as it can take some time to accumulate points Any thoughts are appreciated Sad days !! |
Which frequent flyer program are people now going to use?
Just wondering what programs are the best for Star Alliance mile accrual? My husband flies Swiss and we live in the US and he currently has Gold status with BMI. Thanks.

I've been flying a lot more with BA for work al will have Silver within the next month, so for me BAEC is probably the way to go, with probably VS Flying Club as a backup for the rare occasion I fly Virgin, Singapore or Air NZ - plus Virgin America!

Is there any advice on the best programme for people who gain most mileage via cc spend and like to redeem in C - long-haul.

Depends on what country you live in as to what CC providers are available, etc!

I may happen to know so someone in this boat! If anyone comes up with a second best program to DC for CC spend and long haul C redemptions, then let us know, they'll sure get a whole lot of traffic. My brain is pickled with it all if i'm honest, i just need someone to say yes, do that.... At the moment i'm using my 10x LLoyds avios card (even though i don't think i'll get the 10x bonus, long story.) Also my AAdv amex. |
