Mine was all set up by my company. I think it has to do with the insurance with the credit card that is used for the reservation. As long as I use my corp. DC, I'm fine. Since you have an AWD #, I suggest contacting your account rep at Avis.

I, too, am under 25 and frequently rent cars for business travel. My firm's AWD # does not, for some reason, include the under-25 provision, but when the agent does a search by the firm's name, he/she eventually stumbles across the note that allows under-25 rental. Also, use the same credit card each time, because AVIS tracks by credit card number. After they clear up the under-25 issue the first time, they can always verify your eligibility by checking your credit card number.

Welcome freqflyer2001. Avis tracks everything by credit card number. I was advised of this by an Avis agent. I once asked for an upgrade. The agent asked for my credit card, punched in my number and said that I had already rented xxx (too many) times this year at that location, and an upgrade was approved for such a good customer.

Any good options for those of us who work for ourseles (consultants) and for small-business clients (that, I believe, likely don't have special agreements with Avis)?

Is my best bet just to go to another rental company? Or some way my Amex PLT and personal insurance, plus exemplary driving record (!), might help here?

i *believe* this is the code to waive the fee: B147000

I always use this and have never been billed even though they have all my driver's license info. I even got into a small accident (no fault of mine) and they approved everything just fine.
