Avis in Saudi

As confirmed by Avis customer services, not one of Avis' offices in Saudi is mechanical - no computer system - so no recognition of AvisFirst and no partner points as no Contract.

So you're telling us that the offices all have that local charm we've missed lately here in the US. :p

At least in CONUS you can get a Contract and if you've managed to have obtained AvisFirst/Preferred Select (liftime) you can get ahold of Cendant.
here, you're just flipped off avis Customer Service saying not our problem!

I hope they don't use camels to tow cars in Saudi Arabia!

I am going there next week.. and I am using Avis and renting a premium. I really wanted to rent the Chevy Lumina because it's similar to the new Pontiac G8 which I have not driven in the U.S., and it's considered "large."

The Premium category shows Mercury Grand Marquis. Now, is there any way I can switch it to a Chevrolet Caprice which is bigger than the Lumina? Or is it just Grand Marquis?

Nevermind, just called them - they confirmed it was only the Mercury Grand Marquis or the Ford Crown Victoria. Ugh.
