To avoid issues with AWD ID questions, I asked AutoEurope to match the rate after reserving on AVIS online. They emailed me back saying they would match the rate (actually beat it by $5) and I pre-paid. AutoEurope is a reliable consolidator in Europe that works with Hertz, Avis, etc. I'm still picking up at an AVIS office, renting through AVIS, but the rental is prepaid. No concerns about questions this way.

Also, the corporation in question would be, I guess, Marshall School of Business. Why would be only a certain number of rentals allocated to this code? I know, for example, that my bank has a negotiated AWD code (I think it gives 15% discount or so) and this was done to bring down rental costs and thus encourage a greater use of Avis rentals, not the other way around.

I have seached....if an answer to my question is here, I missed it.

I want to use A074800 CitiFinancial in Alaska in July. It does return the lowest rate.
Is there anything required of this code? Who is it intended for? I will be picking up two cars at 1am and sure do not want a problem.

The second choice would be D005297 Sports Assistance. The same question here?

I don't see any negative posts about either one being a problem..but maybe I am just missing them.

Sadly, confusion arises (not for the first time with AA25 promotions :( ).

From the terms and conditions:

Up to 6,250 bonus mile per rental anniversary offer valid from 05/01/06 to 12/31/06 in the contiguous U.S., Canada, Latin America, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

Good, so my Canada rental in June qualifies :) .

BUT:
Offer is available for U.S. and Canadian residents only for rentals at participating locations in the U.S.

So NOT Canada then, nor for me as an 'alien'.

What are they on about? I've booked with Alamo, bonus miles (I hope) and a lower rate.

Usually, citizenship is never checked at the counter. You can do one thing. Make two reservations. One with Alamo and the other one with AVIS. In case of problem at the AVIS counter go to the Alamo counter. ;)

Hi,

May I enquire as to what you actually did? I think I might try this one (being in Europe). Do you rent, then fax in or email proof? Do you need to supply AutoEurope with the code?

I'd be obliged if you could run through it step by step, either here or in PM..

Thanks,
Yossi..

Thanks - only... What is a voucher number? (I admit I'm dense)

TheViking - could you elaborate on your enigmatic comment about Marshall? Incidentally, those of us those who use the Holiday Inn forum will know that the companies do lurk on these boards and, as a result, take action to prevent 'misuse' of codes.

Retale_88 May 31, 2006 9:15 am

Well, when you make your AutoEurope reservation--they provide you with the "voucher"....which is probably like a confirmation or reservation number. (They price match after you make the reservation with them.) There is no cancellation penalty that I can see, if you change your mind. I've never booked with AE, but am about to soon.

Problem I'm having is that I can get a killer rate with one of the Avis codes, without insurance or any extras. But as soon as you add CDW, liability, etc, the rate more than doubles (in my case)! And at that point, it actually becomes higher than AE's "inclusive" rate (with insurance coverages already added). And, of course, in order for them to price-match, gotta compare apples to apples. C'est la vie....

Autoeurope's beat rate does not always work. I guess the company is just full of BS :( For me they sended the reply below:
---
Auto Europe would like to thank you for your request.

Even if we try to adapt our offers to the market, it is unfortunately to say that we cannot match your request as we would then be in negativ profit that is of course not allowed.

May you have any question, please contact our Team.

Wow, that's good to know, thanks for chiming in. I'm curious what their rate was vs. the competitor's that they couldn't match? Thanks

The Entertainment Book has a free weekend day coupon. Note that the rental details on the back of the coupon are: Thursday pickup and drop off by Monday 11:59 pm.

Personally, I'd look for the "free tank of gas" coupon instead, also in the Ent. Book. Or you can read over the following thread for online access....FREE (Entertainment 2006) SaversGuide. Various Avis coupons are available there.

Ohio State U Alumn Rate?

I'm trying to book a one-way, less than a day, Full-Size or Standard-Size from EWR to PIT for June 30. I've come across this OSU Alum rate of V655435. The prices looks good SS for $101 and FS for $106. Anyone know if they'll ask for an Alum card? Anyone have a better rate?

Quite interesting with this code an Israeli residence there is a $100 fee for one-way while US residence has no such fee. Guess I'll use my US driver's license.
