Time limit to exit the lot at JFK?

Is there a time limit on when to exit the parking lot after you get your keys at JFK?

Context: I will be picking up a car to drive old relatives upstate after a long flight. I'd like to have the keys (and to have checked the car for issues) before they cleared immigration and met me landside.

As long as the site isn't closed, there's not a time limit to exit. One oddity about Avis is that they don't seem to time-stamp rentals based on when you pull out. Just when they print the contract or you select the car in the app.

I believe car rental companies at JFK are open 24/7, so that should be fine then. I could also have my relatives fly to EWR but I'm guessing it makes no difference.

That's interesting. I thought all car rental companies recorded the time when the contract was signed, not when the car got out of their parking lot.
