Parking Fine in LA

I am currently renting with Avis in LA and I got a parking ticket today for parking facing the wrong direction, I have been to the States many times and never even knew this law existed.

Needless to say I do not want to get a fine from Avis. Is paying the ticket enough to avoid any further charges?

Yes.

Remember to keep all records in case Avis goes after you.

There's a law against pretty much everything around here, but what gets enforced and what doesn't tends to depend on the state of the local budget deficit.

But to your actual point, as noted here just pay it (almost certainly online too) and Avis will never know.

That is certainly true in big government California but not everywhere.

The law does make sense, park in direction of traffic — otherwise one is driving the wrong way on the street — or has to do a U turn or 3 point turn and further block traffic.

Pay the fine and keep all records.

Not only pay the fine, but pay it immediately so that it never makes it to Avis.

My mom got 2 tickets in NYC in a Budget car. We paid them within the 30 days on the notice and Avis/Budget was never made aware.

Pardon my ignorance, what would the consequence(s) be if it made it to Avis?

presumably they’ll charge some kind of admin fee for “passing the renter’s details on” or some such

... or, simply cross the line and pull into the proper lane of traffic. NBD.

Depending on where someone lives, pulling out into oncoming traffic to cross the line is a big deal - like NYC where I live and it is also illegal. May be NBD in a suburban housing development with little traffic.

Still don't see how this is any different than a left turn. You wouldn't turn left in front of oncoming traffic when it's not clear, either.

Pulling into opposing traffic for an illegal parallel park is one thing. Trying to pull out, though is something else. When your driver's side is against the curb, it's very possible that you cannot see oncoming traffic when you try to pull out. Your mirror is no good and it's a huge safety concern.
