I was told that the ban would be lifted if I never will use this AWD in the u.s. ever again!

That's interesting - if you never use it again? What are they so concerned about? The underage fee?

My corporate AWD and PLENTY of other ones waive underage fees across the US. I've rented dozens and dozens of time with no problems at all and considering there are tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of employees under 25 eligible to have their underage fees waived, it's got to be a pretty common thing.

I did read the whole thing and I don't know what the heck bob was talking about. Avis has entered into a lot of contracts that specifically lower the minimum rental age to 21 or 18 (depending on a few things) with no underage fees. In fact, any company that has been around for 2 or more years can sign up for an AWD with this provision (provided you meet some other criteria), so if Avis really thought you were "screwing them" as bob puts it, why the heck would Avis be so liberal with its underage fee waiving?

Well Said.
even if they did not like it they could have just put a note in my profile saying I was ineligible for AWD xyz. etc. they really had no reason to ban me.

anyway time to get a move on.

Thanks.

Hmmm, this is getting me worried. I (to be 23 at time of rental) have made two reservations with AVIS through my Swiss Travelclub Gold Elite card. Their AWD gives me a special rate including all insurances, and, according to three US Avis call center agents, lowers the minimum age to 18. Do I risk beeing charged an additional underage fee at LAX or HNL?

If you have your Gold Elite card with you, and you can show it to them as proof to being eligeable for using that AWD code then there should be no problem atall,

Enjoy.

Question: How much is approx. 350 shares of Avis Europe (I think you said it was that company and not Avis USA?) and how does one go about buying them here in the US?

Also, does Avis or any other car rental company have $$ off if you purchase their shares? I seem to recall that Marriott had a Shareholder rate but I am wondering if any other travel related company has one?

Thank you!
