Scandalous!

I recently rented from Avis at Innsbruck Airport. On collecting the fairly scratched vehicle, they checked and listed the damage.

When I returned the car there was no-one available for checking, so I had to return the keys to reception.

A week later I receive a further charge of 200 Euros for damage, of which there was none.

I have complained and they say they will investigate. Is there anything further that I can do?

Do you have the rental contract that stated the damage?

It will take them about 2-3 weeks to process the complaint.

If you have complained to Avis.co.uk then you need to wait for their reply. Or if you are hostile towards them you can make sure you credit card is not charge the 200 Euros damage charge.

Good luck!

I rather foolishly thought that when I returned the keys, having paid in advance, that that was the end of the matter, but I have now sent emails to Avis Austria, UK and my car rental agent. I reckon I might take some photos in future, but a filthy car can hide blemishes.

At worst I can claim on my Amex Plat insurance.
