The seafood market had maybe 6 or 7 different types of lobster the day i went and it is cooked to order. You just tell them how to make it, but they always have suggestions.

Much of the seafood is imported for the benefit of the japanese and hence increases the cost.

I personally *loved* the seafood market. A very fun experience as long as you don't mind seeing Nemo swim and then eating him a short while later!

Otherwise a little after lunch nap may be required! ha!

The buffet is only available for lunch:

Some people value certain things that other people don't. I value very comfortable surroundings and outstanding service. For THB 1,000, I consider it an exceptional deal, even in Thailand. I'm not just getting good seafood, but the setting/ambiance/view and service.

I also value a very nice hotel. So though $200 for room in BKK might seem outrageously expensive, I love the Peninsula and I consider it a good deal for what I get.

Thank you francophile for confirming that the buffet is available only for lunch. I can't wait to sample some of those great seafood dishes! I also appreciated the link you posted!

francophile??

Francophile, since you've been to the Lord Jim's buffet, does this menu seem to be the one you ate? I have pasted the menu that was sent to me in an email from the resto manager. (sorry for the caps but its the way it was sent in the email).

Prices are 950 baht Mon thru Sat. 1250 baht Sunday. The person noted that there were oysters on the Sunday buffet.

Do you recall if you went on a Sunday?

Thanks.

I went to Seafood Market Restaurant alone. I needed help. But I just wanted to check out the place that I saw featured on Anthony Bourdain's "A Cook's Tour" Bangkok Episode. Tivo it. It will come up every so often.

The eats were good but I only got a fish, some shrimp and asparagus.

Cheers,

Scho
