There is certainly a transfer counter for BR. I have only flown in and out from their Terminal. Terminal 2.

Not connecting with BR, will arrive on DL and continue with HB/Greater Bay Airline to HKG.

Not sure if I will be able to online check in before on the TPE-HKG segments, and if Greater Bay Airline have a transfer desk at TPE. So might have to clear immigration, and would be easier if I could clear it at T1 in order to avoid landslide transfer between terminals.

If I need to transfer landslide T2-T1, how is that transfer?

There is no airside transfer between terminals from the arrivals level. You’ll need a boarding pass or a copy of your itinerary to go upstairs to the departure level to make the terminal transfer.

I don’t believe Great Bay has a transfer desk anywhere so if you’ll need to recheck bags, you will have to enter Taiwan through immigration, claim your bag and go to the landside check in counter.

If your bag is checked through you can try to go through the transfer process with a copy of your itinerary and confirmation but no guarantee that will work. You would need to go to your departure gate to get your boarding pass and hope the contract staff don’t pull a “procedures” excuse and force you to go back out to the likely now closed check in counter to get your boarding pass.

I will be arriving late at night on Vietnam Airlines and departing early the next morning on Delta Air Lines. Both airlines operate out of Terminal 2. The flights are on separate itineraries and not on the same itinerary.

I have already visited Taiwan earlier this trip and stayed at the Hyatt Regency Taoyuan International Airport hotel. While it was a nice hotel at which to stay, I was there for a short period of time due to an early flight. This time would be even shorter; so I would rather just be at the airport overnight and access a lounge when it opens rather than stay for a few hours at the Hyatt and wake up early to catch the first shuttle like I did last time.

My Taiwan Arrival Card will still be valid on the night before I return to the United States in case anything goes wrong.

Will I have any problems clearing customs on the arrivals level in Terminal 2 and simply transferring to the departures level in Terminal 2?

Thank you in advance.

no problem for you to turn the other direction and clear immigration at T1. the immigration officer will likely confirm that you have no checked bags before processing you though.

You can enter Taiwan (clear immigration/customs) and exit to the arrivals level and then go back upstairs to the departures level, but you may not be able to get back airside until they open the next morning so there could be a wait depending on what time you arrive.

My flight is scheduled to arrive at 9:10 in the evening — so even if the flight arrives late for whatever reason and the immigrations and customs area is crowded, I am hoping that the departures level is still open by the time I get there.

It will be at that hour - but the question is whether or not you’ll have a boarding pass to get through if the Delta counter and kiosks are closed.

I am guessing that I will not be able to check in on line for a boarding pass with Delta Air Lines prior to arriving at the airport?

I think you should be able to - if no checked bags. I was able to check-in online for a one-way ONT-SEA-TPE flight last month without an issue.

You're arriving at 9:10 PM and departing next morning at 9:35 AM ? That's 12+ hours and I would DEFINETLY not do that in any airport
Book a room near Taoyuan HSR station, take the MRT there - you should get there by 11 PM, return next morning via MRT by 7:30 AM
There are a few hotels within walking distance of Taoyuan HSR that has single rooms with shared bath, usually less than US$50 per night

I currently have a reservation at Hyatt Regency Taoyuan International Airport, which is where I stayed a couple of weeks ago with a similar situation.

The problem is that the restaurants at that hotel property close at 9:00 in the evening. We arrived fewer than 30 minutes prior to that and barely made it for dinner. This time, we arrive at 9:10 and would not be at the hotel until at least 10:00 in the evening; so there is no way we will be in time for dinner — so we figured we would have a leisurely dinner upon arrival at the airport.

We would not be able to have breakfast at the hotel the next morning either because we would leave too early; so we figured we can have breakfast in a lounge, which opens at 5:00 in the morning...

I do see the irony of Hilton mod staying at a Hyatt

My point is you have 12h, you can even get into Taipei proper and still grab 6h of sleep after dinner and breakfast. 9PM isn't that late, and 9AM isn't that early

Most restaurants at TPE would also be closed by 9/10pm. According to the directory (https://web.taoyuan-airport.com/serv...lities?lang=en), the only thing in landside opened past 10pm would be McDonald's.

What time is your departing flight though? Not sure if DL operates the same was as UA at TPE, but when we departed TPE last year on UA, the check-in counters did not open until exactly 3 hours before departure.

Our flight wasn't until mid-afternoon, but we got ready a bit earlier than planned and figured we would head to the airport early and just hang out in a lounge, but then had to wait in the public side with our luggage for an extra hour. I know you don't have luggage and maybe you will have your BP early, but if I had to do it over again, I would have stayed in our hotel room longer since that was more comfortable. Maybe I would have felt different if we weren't dragging checked luggage around trying to find a place to sit pre-security.

Have you considered the airside transit hotel run by Plaza Premium? You may need a boarding pass to go through security, so check with DL to make sure you can check in on the app in advance. I believe transit security will take a mobile boarding pass but you can confirm with the transit hotel.
