I have been at an airside transfer counter to issue tickets for BR. Not sure about CI as never flew them. I can check with them later this month in about 10 days time.
I mainly worry about the SFO staff checking it through.. I may just roll the dice and maybe book a refundable flight later in the day just in case |

The problem with me would be mainly the bags. otherwise, I think that counter can issue my ticket no problem.

Hi I have similar situation like OP, but there's 3 leg of my flight
CGK-HKG (CX798) (Combine ticket with CX408) HKG-TPE (CX408) (Combine ticket with CX798) then TPE-NRT (JX800) (Separate ticket) So it will left me with 2 options, right? 1. Request at CGK while check-in to tag thru my luggage at NRT. (It's possible? I mean is that possible procedure or it's depends on knowledge and willingness of the agent?) 2. Request Starlux at transfer-desk TPE to get my luggage from CX408 previously, and tag it to NRT Thank you in advance |
JX and CX do have a baggage interline agreement, so it should be possible to through-check from CGK.

Is it only inbound passengers from US-flights that do not need to reclear security to transit at TPE?
I seem to remember coming from Paris and needing to reclear security before getting to my connecting flight. |

I seem to remember coming from Paris and needing to reclear security before getting to my connecting flight. The US screening meets Taiwan's requirements to avoid rescreening of transit passengers. Taiwan approves streamlining US transit passengers . I have not read of any other country meeting these requirements. |
Flying to SEA to MNL on 2 separate tickets, stopover in TPE T2, inbound on DL J (Delta One) class, outbound on PAL J, assuming both flights are on time, I only have 1:50hrs between arrival and departure, due to the first segment being an award tickets, and the second a revenue ticket, can’t combine, therefore can’t check-in bags to final destination.
Can I pick up bags and drop off at PAL counter without leaving transit area? If not possible, how easy and time consuming is to get through customs, drop bags at PAL counter and and get through security again, and still make it to my flight. Thanks |

Thanks Your connection time will be somewhat tight to pull this off, but doable. Just make sure you’re admissible into Taiwan, they won’t let you in just to recheck a bag if you otherwise need a visa. |
That seems doable (without feeling rushed) to me. The most important deadline is the check-in cutoff time for the second flight, and plane-->counter definitely won't push 50 minutes

I don’t recall there being a transit desk, so you’ll most likely need to 1. Be admissible into Taiwan 2. Clear immigration and customs 3. Go to the departures level to check in for your second flight and check your bag 4. Clear security and exit immigration

Thank you bocastephen for detailed info, won’t need visa, but looks like I would need to fill an immigration arrival card form online. |

Is one able to clear immigration at either terminal upon arrival? I have a hand bag only self transfer between DL (arriving T2 from SEA at 9:05pm) and HB (departing T1 to HKG at 11:30pm). Not sure if I will be able to online check in before on the TPE-HKG segments, and if Greater Bay Airline have a transfer desk at TPE. So might have to clear immigration, and would be easier if I could clear it at T1 in order to avoid landslide transfer between terminals.
If I need to transfer landslide T2-T1, how is that transfer? |
There is certainly a transfer counter for BR. I have only flown in and out from their Terminal. Terminal 2.
