Taipei Hotels
I've been to Taipei several times and I don't stay in high end hotels. I've looked around the lobby and neighborhood around the Regent and always liked the property. I've never seen a room or dined there. It definietely looks high end. The Okura, I understand, caters to Japanese tourists and is close by.
If you want to be near the Shi Lin district, I found a nice hotel, not fancy, with a good breakfast buffet, Mellow Fields Hotel, in Zhongshan area, lots of green space close by. Convenient to Monkey Trail hike, Yangmigshan, Shi Lin night market, Chiang Kai Shek residence and gardens, shopping (Sogo in walking distance) and restaurants. It's even convenient to TIen Mu area and baseball games in Taipei, great fun. And the National Palace Museum isn't far. Taipei's MRT is great and can take you anywhere at a reasonable cost. |
I would stay at the ESLITE at the the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park... great place, fantastic grounds check it out: https://www.eslitehotel.com/en/
Somewhere decent and nice check out the Doubletree... nothing like the ones in the states they are very nice: https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/tsa...pei-zhongshan/ |
I once stayed in a Best Western in Incheon, super nice with a rooftop buffet breakfast...
As for Eslite Hotel, I've been to their very nice bookstores....What's going in the area where that hotel is located? Looks like a pretty fancy hotel. |
Alot of action around the Eslite... It's a very "Artsy" area, with galaries, music all kinds of things going on. also a pretty cool restaurant nearby WOOZA
|
I personally would stay around Ximen or Zhongxiao area because it's easily accessible north/south of Taipei City.
Orange Hotel chain in Taiwan has always been a great choice. It's not high end, but clean and affordable. |
I am planning to go for the first time to Taiwan in 10 days time. I am not looking for a 5 star expensive one but at least a 4 star and in a busy area with shops and restaurants at least. Safe too. What is the area recommended and what are some of the hotels that anyone can recommend?
Thank you. |

Thank you. If you are looking for a non-cookie cutter in the centre of shopping and eating, I could recommend Palais de Chine. Alternative might be Ximen District. You can't really go wrong in this city. |
Any hotel recommendations? I am looking at least 4 star for 4 nights with a budget of around 400USD to 500 for the hotel for the 4 nights.

That said, take a look at Leofoo Residence, Aloft Zhongshan, Taipei Fullerton (both locations), and the San Want. Edited to add: actually, also take a look at the Caesar Park. It should be within your budget range, and is located across the street from Taipei Main Station. |
CityInn properties are quite nice and a good value. Clean, good locations, laundry facilities, and they have a common area with free coffee. I've stayed at Ximen and Fuxing, I'd recommend either (Fuxing is newer).

Hotel prices in Taipei have increased a lot. It's going to be challenging, if not impossible, to get a 4-star hotel at the budget you note. Non-luxury hotels are going to come in at around $160 / night.

Some of the older 4-star hotels may have a limited number of cheaper rooms, but there is usually something driving that like oddly shaped or no window. |
The Eslite Hotel is quite boutique and the standard rooms are big. We've stayed there and enjoyed it. One negative for us was the breakfast buffet, there's a choice of one hot menu item, and then a very small continental buffet. We ended up just eating there one day and the rest of the time outside the property.
We liked the location and because it's in the Cultural Park, some event is always happening; however, it quiets down in the evening. |
Can anyone recommend a Taipei hotel with twin bedded rooms with windows that is close to public transportation to TPE? I have a 10:35 AM flight but would prefer to stay in the city.

There are also lots of budget hotels near Taipei station with varying level of quality. |
I'm looking at the Doubletree at Zhongshan for 4 nights but I'd love an Executive Lounge. Are there any such hotels, preferrably close to Main Station (for airport access), restaurants and tourist stuff?
Many thanks. |
