Just tried to clear things up by emailing a hotel (Pullman) in HCMC, and they said that unvaccinated travellers are not allowed to enter the country. Still waiting clarification from their side, hopefully its just because of not updated with the latest government guidance..
As I will have to take the covid test before I fly, I think there is no additional requirement for me to fulfill the hotel requirement, which is nice. |

Any first hand experiences entering Vietnam in the last week since the change?
Depending on the source, you need a covid test 72(PCR) or 24 (antigen) hours either prior to arrival or departure. Any guess if a Binox now (with proctoring) would satisfy the requirement? Im trying to plan a mileage run JFK-LAX-BOS-NRT-HAN, so with the many connections I would need to potentially test mid trip if it's based on arrival time. Even without the domestic flights, the travel time JFK-NRT-HAN would mean that an antigen test wouldnt work unless its from departure of first flight (which is common to many other destinations). I'd love to hear what is happening with others and their experiences. |
Vietnam E-visa
I've got an e-visa which is valid until the 28th of this month. Does that mean I can enter on the 27th and still get 30 days, or enter on the 27th and just get one day?
It's different for every country, so I figured it best to ask on FT. Cheers! BmB |

When you say e-visa do you mean through an agency or through the government?
I cannot confirm 100% cause I don't see the stamps in my current passport but I think it is enter before, and you get the days specified (30,60 etc) Any agency who offered to do this for you would just be charging you for filling out the web form. The FAQ on that website states: How long is an e-Visa valid for? An e-Visa is single entry and valid for a maximum of 30 days. Do I need to enter Vietnam on the exact date specified in my e-Visa application? The validity period of your e-Visa begins from the date specified in your approved e-Visa document. You can enter Vietnam on any date within this validity period. |

The e-visa is issued directly to eligible nationalities via a government website: https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/trang-chu-ttdt

The FAQ on that website states: - which seems to confirm what I was told, that validity starts from the date the e-visa is issued, not from the date you enter. But in classic Vietnam style it's worded badly enough to still not be 100% clear :D For the other: when I did it the 30 (or however many days) counts from when you enter, visa validity is the period for you to enter. |

I have personal experience that agencies do not 'just fill in the form.' 2 reasons to use them-you want a different type of visa, and you cannot wait long enough for the government (eg have half a day).

We're talking about the e-visa, not other types of visa. To be clear, I'm saying that any agency that offered to get you an e-visa would just be charging you to fill in the form. Of course using an agent can be worth it or even absolutely necessary if you are getting other types of visa, but BuildingMyBento has an e-visa.

Sorry, I forgot Vietnam calls the government one 'e-visa' even though you have to print it out (I just consider it 'visa'), but yes, you are correct ;) (I just view it as a visa cause you apply, wait, print it out, I am uncertain why it is called 'e')

It isn't possible to get more than 30 days right now through an e-visa? It's it easy to extend?
I don't think I've ever had less than 60 days when i visited VN in the past. |

Anyone have and data points on Int'l arrivals to SGN, time from plane to outside?
Looking at booking our domestic flights to CXR on VN soon and there's a flight departing 135 mins after arrival or almost 5 hours. Trying to avoid a 5 hour transit. |
