I think Law and Human Rights handles the visa business with KEMLU (Foreign Affairs), while SATGAS (the task force responsible for Covid-related policies) covers quarantine.

I guess it's going to be tricky if there's tension between provinces about asymmetrical release from restrictions, while there'll be some anxiety of opening tourism floodgates into Bali. So maybe the restrictions will be lifted in a phased fashion.

The circular relating to the "special tourist visa on arrival" was published yesterday. The visa is available from today for selected passports, entering only through Bali DPS for up to 30 days, extendable once for a further 30 days. The circular refers to fees as published in 2019.

The quarantine and testing rules remain a bit messy, but liveable with.

Here's the list of approved passports. As a Scot I'm a little peed off they still refer to UK as England, but it's an indignity i can live with.

So we are still planning on Wakatobi for May and I'm trying to figure out the best/smoothest way to get there. Please help me with my "guesses", as the info on various sites is either old or unclear. Seems like SIA is still the best route from the west coast - use the VTL, pretest with PCR within 48 hrs of travel (Test #1), transit through SIN, enter DPS on Test #1. Test #2 on arrival, if clear I can proceed on charter to Tomia Island/Wakatobi. Here's the tricky part. Would I need to test to fly back from Wakatobi to DPS/transit to SIN? There's no way Wakatobi or Tomia Island will have a rapid PCR. Would I need a PCR to transit SIN to return to the USA, or will the good old Binax Now work for transit and re-entry to the US? There's precious little info on this route

You need to test again if you exit Changi in SG

Look at the timing requirements for the test to leave Bali for another island. Are you staying at Wakatobi Resort? Ask them about tests to get back to Bali, but maybe not needed. I think you will need a test that Singapore accepts to go through to the US. You can get that in Bali but maybe no longer possible to fly back to US same day as leave Wakatobi.

My impression is the "we are open" not really opening adds more days on the front end and maybe on the back to any destination off Bali. Plus uncertainty.

Just booked for Bali on October. I see they are marketing this "warm up holiday" aka 3 night restrictions on arrival.

We're a family of 6 (young kids) and find villas better value for money. It seems the hotels that are registered for isolation hotels are more expensive and don't have rooms big enough for large families (plus we like supporting local business rather than big chains).

The idea of the Pre departure test (ok, I get that), plus then another on arrival and one more three days later is a big ask for our youngest kids..

Does anyone reckon that these requirements will be eased come October?

I'd only go to Bali to get to the rest of the country, specifically Jakarta ... though without the prior quantity of tourists, Bali might be kinda nifty to see for once.

OTOH, it probably wouldn't make much sense to go in April, since most of the rest of Indonesia will be celebrating Ramadan.

As a Belgian (so not on the list) I was planning on traveling to Bali to do do 3 days quarantine to get into Java just beginning of this week.
As the law changed somewhere Wednesday I had to change my plans. You have to stay 5 days in Bali under the current restrictions before you get your clearance certificate and this didn't work for me timing wise.

So changed my ticket on Thursday to travel into Jakarta with a valid Visa. I just arrived this morning and needed the following documents to get in (3 dose vaccination, PCR test, Visa, EHAC on Peduclililindlingi app, valid booking for a 1 night quarantine)
Boarding went smooth (had to show the 48 old hours old PCR test, vaccination certificate and EHAC)
Getting into the country after boarding went smooth as well and was really well arranged (4 stations where at each station other documents needed to be shown).
- first station - PCR test and Vaccination certificate
- second station - Valid booking for a 1 night quarantine
- third station - that's where they do the PCR test
- fourth station = Immigration - passport and Visa

When you come out the hotels are there and they pick up the passengers and drive you to the room. Currently staying in a suite in the Dharmawangsa. The food is brought to the room and I can't get out until I get cleared which should be by tomorrow morning around 10 am (so an effective 24 hours quarantine)
At the check out I'll get a clearance certificate that will allow me to travel anywhere in Indonesia.

Given what the world has experienced over the last two plus years, how could anyone possibly answer this question with anything even remotely approaching credibility? :confused:

Shame that Bali requires insurance specifically covering Covid and a paid-for hotel reservation. All that does is increase anxiety that you'll be rejected at check-in because someone thinks there may be a problem with your documents. Vacc cert and test should have been enough.

I think not much focus and thought has gone into the regulations and their implications for tourism. It's more or less a cut and paste job on others' policies, and what sounds good/reassuring for local consumption.

Just thank the Lord the Indonesia didn't follow the fully bonkers approach adopted by Thailand!!
