Both are right on the beach for snorkeling. Both are small properties with bungalow rooms. Both include breakfast and taxes for close to the same price. I did not have to prepay or put up a deposit for either one. That villa looks nice but of course it will in the pictures. The price is far more than I want to pay and we don't need 2 bedrooms. Be absolutely sure it is actually on the beach and not just "near" the beach if that's important to you.

I am keeping an eye on TA reviews and will make a decision soon. I'm leaning against Kembali because they do not take credit cards.

Seriously, though, when I was there you got pestered too much by all the hawkers around Kuta. Ubud was the cheaper, more culturally serious area. Car daytours are often a good idea for surface-hitting things that might otherwise be a logistical challenge to get to, though they do sometimes overdo the visit-the-artisans-and-the-gift-shop thing. Besakih, like Kuta, had too many hawkers and was chaotic (not unlike the scene outside the Grand Palace in Bangkok), but still a must-see.

Many of the problems stem from too many people trying to eke out a living from the tourism, but it's still a beautiful island with great cutlural offerings.

Another thing I was wondering is if it's worth a trip to Batur from Ubud, not to climb but just to see it and how much time would I need there.

Tulamben is quite far from Sanur. In the tourist areas traffic can be horrendous, so don't expect to go anywhere quickly.

Personally, I'd add a few days to your trip, and explore the other areas, if you really want to explore the island more. I'd say a week in Bali would be much better.
