You can go to the individual carrier websites and book your own tickets. I just came back from a trip and used a travel agent to do everything.

Just make sure that if you do your own ticket purchases, you check departure times frequently days before your flight, and avoid booking connecting flights on other carriers unless you give plenty of transfer time. Domestic carriers in Myanmar will change flight times without notice.

thank you , what are a good site like Orbitz or Kayak to search the potential flights ?

You'll have to go to each carriers website. They don't pay to be in GDS systems or search engines like Kayak.

One advantage of a conscientious travel agent is their ability to keep tabs on cancelled flights and explore other options for you.

I'd booked a Mandalay-Bhamo flight for November 19 that was cancelled 2 days before departure. Since my travel agent handled the reservation she 1) immediately e-mailed/texted me of the cancellation 2) checked for other travel options and 3) sent me options by November 18.

Took 4 legs on Air KBZ domestic flights last month. They were on ATR 72-600s with a 2-2 config. The new ones were in great shape (<3 months old), but the ones a few years older seemed to be in disrepair. Overall, dramatically better than the last time I was in Burma 15 years ago.

Flights were booked online directly or did you use a local travel agent ?

I have to reanimate this thread bcs I try to book some domestic flights and all international OTA can not issue a ticket and some of the recommended sources above are not alive anymore or there is no response. Maybe someone has an idea.
Of course I can book at RGN Airport but I’m not sure If booking two days in advance is enough time to get a ticket.

At a random guess it's due to sanctions. You could as a last chance try a specialist travel agent like Propeller travel (often cited on here, I have never used them) and if they can't book anything maybe contact a traditional travel agent in Rangoon and see what they can do?

Possible agents in Rangoon

Eg. Sun Far Travel

Address : 8th Floor, Building C, Shwe Pyae Sone Market, Mingalar Market Compound, Mingalar Taung Nyunt Township, Yangon Region, Myanmar.

The advantage of talking to a local agent is that they will.know what does and doesn't work. I wonder whether making a payment using a foreign card might be troublesome though.

In 2019 we used Columbus Travels for full itineraries including flights, hotels, local drivers/guides, etc. It worked well for this trip and some other trips that other family members have done pre-2020. It came recommended by overseas Burmese-Americans. Here is their contact information.

I don't know what things are like post-Covid/coup but perhaps this could be helpful to you.

For online flight bookings from outside Myanmar (or when in Myanmar) I can highly recommend Flymya.com if not booking with the airline direct. If you don't have any idea on which airlines are flying where, and at what times, Flymya is very useful
