AEP to EZE transfer
I'm landing into AEP at 10:00 (domestic flight) and I will need to collect luggage.
I'm due to depart at 14:00 at EZE. Does anyone have any experience on transfer times? |

You should be okay jumping in a taxi....Eastbay1K transfer time is about right. I trust you have both flights on the same ticket? If not then you're a braver man than me. :D

You will have plenty of time. We made it with several hours less than you have.
I suspect you either misread the post or you're a Kirchner. |
Playing with fire, even without more details. Anyone who has planned this is being unwise, and in the case of a travel agent extremely negligent. Why, oh, why, when then is so much credible comments on the travel forums that this is problematic? Can you make it...yes if you are lucky. Is it risky....yes, extremely

I need to do this transfer myself in October--separate tickets--and would love advice. I'm arriving EZE at 6:02 AM on an AA flight from MIA, transferring to AEP for a LAN flight to USH. I can fly from AEP at either 11:15 AM or 3:35 PM. This is all happening on a Thursday, if that matters. Will I be OK with the earlier departure?

Thanks. I'll be hauling around a bag, and my Spanish is pretty sketchy, so not sure if I want to mess with trying to make any stops between one airport and the other. In any case, I have time to spend in BsAs on the other end of this trip. I'll be scouring the EZE thread for ideas on the two days I'll be there in November.

Take the later flight from AEP. If everything goes smoothly, you'll have a few hours in the city to get a relaxing lunch and maybe do something fun. If things go wonky, then you'll at least have a time cushion so you don't miss the onward connection. |

Between now and October, the odds of schedule changes are quite high. Your "possibly ok" connection could turn into something impossible, with no recourse.
What should I expect to pay for the taxi between the two airports? Do I need to hit an ATM for pesos, or will USD be accepted? (Sorry for the dumb question on currency but I haven't been to Argentina since 1997 and I don't know what they're doing as far as money these days.) |

If you are staying @ USH, you might as well get some currency @ EZE before you leave the airport. |

Now that is a good thing to recall. AA has monkeyed around with schedules in a major way over the last year--I've had many flight times changed (although not dramatically). I think I will go for the later AEP-USH flight just to be safe. Who knows, if I arrive at AEP wildly early, maybe LAN will let me jump on the earlier flight. I'm traveling on DL miles though, so I will keep my expectations very low.

ADDED: It could be GOL but I don't think they operate domestic flights in Argentina. |

Are you sure you have a LAN flight and not AR with DL miles? AR is the SkyTeam partner..
I have found it impossible to get USH award flights on LAN using Avios. |

I did try doing the AEP-USH portion with Avios and got nowhere. Too bad, because I have boatloads of Avios (including the pile that I just spent to book the PHL-MIA-EZE segments). Thanks for the info on paying the taxi with a CC, Eastbay1K. |

It probably is AR, sorry. I don't often use DL miles (and I haven't bought the tickets yet) so I'm sure I got that wrong. I've been in a bit of a frenzy trying to get all this stuff sorted out--I'm traveling to Antarctica and the whole thing has come together in a very short space of time.

Note that the credit card transfer seems to require paying in the airport with your credit card for a car service, not grabbing a random taxi at the curb and hoping that the driver is willing to use the meter. |

If it's an AR flight, please allow some extra time for IROPs. You wouldn't want to miss the boat (or plane) to Antarctica.

I pretty much plan to get to AEP as quickly as possible from EZE, so that I can try to get on the 11:15 flight if they'll let me. I'd hope that at least one of the flights will be operating properly.
Thanks. Reminds me of India :) |
It's the day before. I can't get there earlier. At some point you just have to trust that things will happen the way they should. There will also be a substantial trip insurance policy.

Gol does not operate domestic Argentina flights.

Arrive at AEP 1 hr before flight - enough time?
I'm stopping overnight here on my way to Patagonia and will only have a couple hours in the morning to tour the city. Thus, I don't want to arrive too early for my 13:40 flight to FTE (on Aerolineas, no status).
Am I cutting it if I plan to arrive at AEP 1 hour before departure? (No carry-on to check in, just a large backpack.) |

Yes, as stated above, the rules are "tough" but enforcement is a coin-toss.......
|
Thanks for the heads up. Reading the other threads, it sounds like I should play my luck. I know I can always check in the bag for free, but I'd rather not. I will do online check in and try to pass security with my 45 liter bag. Then, if they force me to check it in, can I gate check it or will they hassle me further?
Also, how early should I arrive at AEP if I'm preparing to do what I describe above? |
If you are going to roll the dice with the bag issue, I suggest you arrive at AEP at least 2 hours prior to your flight.

I arrived at EZE on the same AA flight from MIA last month and it was 2 hours late. Often it's on time. Anything can happen! |
It's all a moot point now. My cruise got cancelled and I'm now rebooked for late December--getting the flights for that date on points required me to spend a night in BsAs before continuing on to USH. So my MIA-EZE flight can be as late as it wants!
|
My turn! Just had the inevitable changes from the Argentine Airlines where they basically make connecting directly from EZE-USH infeasible.
So, here's my story: On the way to Antarctica, my EZE-USH flight is now a 1-stop EZE-FTE-USH. Seems to be a 1-stop, I hope it's the same plane. Arrive 4:05 PM, the cruise ship departs the next afternoon so should be OK. On the way back, things are more worrisome. This is Friday, January 6th. I now fly USH-AEP, hopefully arriving at 4:50 PM, and the EZE-ATL flight on Delta leaves at 9:15. From what I've read, I believe this change of airports is doable (I have travel insurance for what that's worth) even with checked bags if things are on time, but welcome any advice. |

If on time it's doable but not for the faint hearted especially as the roads at that time on a Friday evening will be getting congested. If you have the option of getting an earlier flight I'd certainly take it, even more so if you're travelling on separate tickets.

Thanks. No real options as the ship doesn't get back till the late morning...the tickets are not separate, all on one itinerary, booked through Delta, though 2 of 3 are revenue...just have to hope for the best.

Thank you! Any advice about how to schedule the AEP-EZE ride and with whom? I know we will need a private car or taxi rather than the shuttle, but wondering if trying to prebook would lead to any significant time savings over just getting a private remise at AEP when we arrive...
|
I would reserve a Remis with Manuel Tienda Leon. Knowing ahead of time that I don't have to make the arrangements after landing at AEP would give me a degree of confidence. Let them know how much luggage you will have so they have the right vehicle ready.
