I'm still wondering what problem this is going to solve. What does having a digital image and and thumb-print achieve?

Hey.... the fingerprint and picture is a US idea.... now that we adopt it you dont like it...??????

The new system works, and its fast.... however, they still dont have enough booths in operation so when you arrive AM with all the US flights coming in at the same time, its still a zoo.... I waited in line for 35 minutes before getting my turn... my face time with the Immigrasi Doode was less than 50 seconds.

This will be a moment where he informs you that he is not a product of the US. He is the product of mutton, and wine that tastes like cat pee.

Hopefully the exLIM flight will continue to arrive on time and beat the Gringo mess.

If there are not enough booths in operation then the new system is neither working nor fast. As for 50 seconds face time -- I don't recall it ever being any more than that.

And they photography and print permanent residents entering the US too. For what reason I don't know, since that information is already on the green card. I can't see how it serves any useful purpose.

I use Global Entry when entering the US, so fingerprint recognition allows entry using a kiosk without human intervention.

Is there some suspected forgery of passports of people entering Argentina?

Strange as it may seem, I've never tasted cat pee, so I'll have to take your word for that

The other thing I forgot to mention in my original post, was that immigration asked what flight I had arrived on (which they also keyed in). So even though there was no form to fill in, they essentially collected the same information.

It will be interesting to see what the procedure is on exit and re-entry.

I was the first one off AA997 the other day. I already have my visa. The new process took less than a minute. It was the quickest trip through that I have ever had. Granted there was no herd line from coach.

From completing check in until past migraciones took 7 minutes today. This is a record. However, there must be some flight schedule adjusting as usually the line is full of Brazilians and there was almost no line at all for security, in addition to their being 3 lanes open. Usually there are 2 at this hour. Maybe because UA now has a Nooerk flight earlier than the old IAD flight, they are staffing up earlier? Hoo nose. I just think it was good luck today. BTW, the actual departure tramite, which includes another photo and thumbprint, took just a tad longer, if at all, than the old way.
