In our local La Anónima they do frozen mussels de-shelled but they don't look great I have to say. They also do frozen squid as well....I can eat it but always think it's like eating rubber bands.
The salmon you speak of...is it red salmon like the Scottish or Pacific variety or the white salmon which is quite common here and tastes nothing like the red salmon.
Any smoked salmon for sale in BA?

I only buy mussels in their shells.... what sort of a bon-vivant buys any other kind.....??? :p :D

Red Salmon, I only eat the white Salmon in Asia, the stuff found here is just bland, as you correctly point out. Plenty of smoked salmon here in Buenos Aires, but... beware. Scotland has some of the very best smoked salmon in the world, so please do manage your expectations. The stuff here can be decent, but its nothing like what Ive tasted from Northern Europe.

Well of course like whisky the best smoked salmon comes from Scotland and all imitations are second rate. ;)

Good to hear red salmon is available....I have a notion of smoking my own so that might be the way to go. ^
